Most violent and dangerous culture on earth.  Its not xenophobia if it only applies to the 'religion of peace'.

I distrust the white man and their church, they are the reason the Muslims are pissed in the first place. White people are all like...

"Oh, man the Muslims hate us because we have been shitting on them for the past couple hundred years, therefore I hate them, lets invade them, take their resources, and empirialize their lands because like 10 of them flew planes into some buildings."

I'm white BTW so its cool.

But yeah I do distrust fundamentalists in general, they are impervious to my logic, I'm always concerned I might break one and end up burned at a stake, despite my very logical arguments against it.

Muslims are less vulnerable to group think than you believe. There are many different schools of thought within Islam and they're more tightly knit than the different sects of Christianity. I think it's mainly because of the pilgrimage thing. You're not gonna kill a fellow Muslim while you're walking circles around the Kaaba together in massive droves, so that forces them to work things out to the extent of peaceful coexistence at least. That doesn't mean they have "group think" and don't have reasonable disagreements. The Protestants and Catholics in Ireland have no such ritual that forces them to occasionally get along.

I don't really understand why the terrorism gets played up so much when it's our guys invading and dropping bombs without being provoked. Right, Muslims are the ones with the group think problem.

We invaded Iraq for less reason than cartoons of Mohammad. We did it for pretty much no reason.

Christians have got abortion clinic bombers too. Atheists can be nasty too, look at Russia and China.

You're cheating yourself by associating terrorism with Islam specifically. It's just another culture with a different set of assholes and chill people.

U.S. muslims are all good to me, I will hold doors open for them and say good morning with a smile just like I would to anyone else. If everyone worked to bridge ethnic and religious gaps, even once a day, the world would have none.

I'm not discussing the US invasion of Iraq, it has nothing to do with this thread. I'm talking about the global influence and motivation of Islam, not to mention that I said right off the bat that I don't believe most Muslims are terrorists, nor do I think much more highly of Christian fundies. I'm making a conscious distinction between countries and religions.

"Global Islam" doesn't have a "motivation", it's an ancient religion with many surviving branches. They probably seem monolithic and influential to you because their customs are so unfamiliar to you. I am sure they'd love to spread their religion, but America is packed with gun-toting Christians and I'm pretty sure they're terrified of us.

Muslims pose no danger to the US.
None.

How many major Muslim terrorist attacks have there been on US soil since sept 11, 2001? It would have been so defiant, such a strong signal if terror continued. Did it?

If you know how easy it is to make a car bomb, and anyone with an internet connection can google what he needs to know in an afternoon, it becomes clear that the "terrorist threat" is entirely bogus. There just arent people doing it, the world isnt like the media try to portray it.

Now in the Middle East its a big problem, but then again look at the revolutions there lately. Even there people rise up.

But in the US? No risk. Over a decade of near absolute nothing drives that point home.

Thanks for driving my point home #6. There are thousands (maybe millions?) of Muslims in the US and if they were "religious fanatics hell-bent on ridding the world of infidels" they would probably stop programming computers and driving taxis long enough to blow one up, just once in over ten years. Bin Laden was a freak exception to the rule and now he and all his friends are dead. I don't get why nobody is praising Obama for having the balls to basically win the war on terror. It seems they'd rather continue scaremongering about "global Islam" and "caliphates".

"Religion of violence" my balls. I love how OP comes here to ask what's "really" going on with Islam when it's perfectly clear he has already arrived at his own conclusions without the need for facts or information.

Oh, and if you're for whatever reason concerned about the future of Christianity, don't be. Christianity is an older religion, it's easier to follow without effort, and it's held its territory against Islam for over a thousand years. If anything you should move to Turkey and start preaching the Gospels there, take back Constantinople for us Christians-in-everything-but-name.

Agreed.

Notice the "none is worthy of worship but God" part. Thad part of the Adhaan/Azan Call To Prayer is what fuels the revolutions in the Middle East, people overcoming their fear of dictators and the powers that be in wanting to live peaceful lives, not a sudden sweet tooth for hamburgers. "none is worthy of worship but God" also includes religious leaders, self proclaimed and otherwise.

The scaremongers are lining their pockets and those of their friends with your money, over the backs of the peaceful Muslim majority, to protect you from a danger that does not exist.

Give me $100 every month and I will protect you against attacking polar bears. Absolutely no polar bears will attack you so pay up, good patriot!

its fairly easy to come about that muslims are not terrorist. i will give you kids a simple example. afghanistan population is roughly 33 million now how many of those people are terrorist? 5%? 15? or perhaps what republicans believe 99.9% of them. but in reality the taliban count is under 20,000 but hey lets create 50,000 for the sake of argument. so 70,000 muslims are taliban and the population of the country is 33 mil so by simple math you will come to the conclusion that 0.00001% of them are terrorist. case closed.

Not even all Taliban are terrorists. You can be a Taliban and deeply opposed to the goings on among your peers.

Oskar Schindler comes to mind, powerful member of the Nazi party, working against them every step of the way in his niche. Nominally he was a Nazi, in the statistics, but the reality of it was a completely different story. By all means click that link and read that story.

Many of the revolutions currently going on are nonviolent too, up against powerful militaries supplied by western governments. I think Libya was the only exception to the nonviolence of the Arab Spring. And TBH they were egged on by the international community.

OP is seriously a pot calling the kettle black.

OK maybe not xenophobia, but a fear of the unknown driving a lot of the people who are spreading their fear, perhaps. I've never read the Koran but I have the read the Bible and it's not exactly a nonviolent book of tolerance either. Have you read it through and through, or just the scary terrorism excerpts?

The book is completely and totally irrelevant.  What is relevant is the actions and beliefs of the people.  Nearly every active conflict on earth involves muslisms.  The common theme is not their race, not their economic status - its their religious culture.  From N. Africa to the Phillipeans, from the Sudan up to Chechnya... wherever muslims border non-muslims there is violence.  Sure, you can find some reasons to side with the muslims in some of these conflicts but there are just so many and its so wide spread that you have to be a politically correct fool to ignore it at large.

It doesnt matter what any book says.  What matters is the global warring, hate and destruction that comes from that culture and the followers of that culture.  Of course, the biggest victims of muslim culture are fellow muslims as is usually the case with oppressive ways of life.
