Soon Greece and many other countries will become states of Germany

Due to the crisis debt crisis in Europe, many countries will have to forfeit the management of their finance to Germany since its the only country in the EU that can manage money.

Turns out Germany only lost the battle in WW2, soon Germany will have many vassal states. The United States of Germany is coming.

Uhm, yes. Together with France, Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg and The Netherlands.

Exactly. The people in the Randstad already have huge problems relating to the different cultures in the border provinces. Imagine how they'd respond to Flanders being part of their country. It just wouldn't work.

What bullshit. It's a dialog between France and Germany, with the UK throwing in the occasional bout of bitching, while the rest of the northern countries are waiting patiently until it's their turn to pick up the bill.

I can't imagine it working well either but for me personally it wouldn't be that bad and i'd actually like it. I'll end up moving anyway so :shrug:

I don't see all these countries becoming a vassal of Germany though. Financial support/management is something diffirent then a vassal (but I still have a predated model of vassalry in my head :lol: ) so I could be wrong anyhow

What is the modern definition of vassal anyway.

Back in the day it was, we fight, you surrender to me, I control you.

Nowadays, I don't see that happening. The definition needs to be modernized.

I can't imagine Germany being the "federal government" and other countries being "state governments" either.

Yeah, my gf also talks about moving north in the long run. I'm not sure why, exactly. I mean, it doesn't seem to me that The Netherlands is inherently better in any way than Belgium :shrug:

You know, I'm curious as to how the whole Greece/Italy/Spain/Portugal thing is going to develop. The rest of the EU is building a financial interest in Greece at a rapid pace, and I can't imagine that that huge investment will not bring any form of political control. That control will not be exercised by Germany, however, that's for sure. It will be an EU matter. I guess Sarko's speech Thursday (?) was an interesting sign of power shifting from the countries to the EU, but again, I'm curious how that's actually going to work out.

After all, it's not so much the plans that are made as the execution of those plans that really matters. Had the Maastricht treaty been put into practice in a consistent and complete fashion, then Greece wouldn't even have been able to join the EU. In other words: the plan was good 10 years ago, but they managed to fuck it up by believing that the economic bloom would last forever.

Yeah actually I have the best of two worlds living on the border but it's more of a cultural thing if i'd end up moving...

I still believe in the EU. It's time for the motherfucking member states to show that they're not a bunch of spineless weaklings, that's all. And that applies to the southern AND the northern states. In the north, we'll have to pay up to get shit on track again, and in the south, the population just needs to suck up and start getting used to putting in a decent day's work for a change. I have absolutely no compassion at all for the protesters in countries like Greece and Spain who want to hang on to their completely irresponsible 2-hour work weeks and retirement at 34 or whatever insane policies they have managed to get across.
