Yes this is the most honest reply so far imo.

No one knows if the universe is conscious of itself imo. Those who believe it do so because someone told them so.  So...

are you serious.  we are all made of atoms that came from exploding stars, part of a process of evolution that has been happening since the big bang.  The atoms in our bodies (by themselves) aren't any more conscious than the atoms in a sock.  Both the sock and our bodies are the universe.  But people are self conscious and socks aren't. Our atoms have obviously formed in a pattern capable of intelligence. So...we are the universe conscious of itself, by definition.  It's logically impossible to be any other way.

Personally I think that everything is consciousness/intelligence, but even if you don't think that, it's still pretty obvious that chronic's claim is true.

If you know what's false, though, you would know whether or not statement X is false.

If I have a list of propositions that I know to be false, then I can automatically create a list of propositions that I know to be true simply by taking the negations of the elements of my original list.

Sure, one who can recognize what's untrue can discover the truth by utilizing that process you describe, but this doesn't mean that such a person can recognize the truth upfront without going through that process.

Perhaps general relativity is more inclusive than that?

I seriously doubt that creation has a goal.

That everything we see around us, made up of atoms, all comes from the same stuff, star dust created during the big bang? Or that everything is part of the same whole?

I was merely stating that the sock or even the atoms themselves cannot possibly have consciousness, because they lack the necessary tools to do so, i.e. a brain and nervous tissue.

EDIT: I think that because we are part of the universe, that we have the capacity for our own consciousness, simply means that we are the universe being conscious of itself.

The brain is made up of atoms as well.. so they have to have some sort of consciousness to create a bigger self conscious consciousness. Ya digg?

Of course the brain is made up of atoms, but so are the pebbles in my front lawn.
So no, it is the arrangement OF those atoms that allows for consciousness to exist. The atoms themselves by themselves merely have the POTENTIAL (only if brought together by biological processes) to create consciousness. A rock does not know that it exists, and is inorganic and inanimate.

Like i just said.. they have some form of consciousness.. maybe not the ability to be self conscious.. but if they can create self conscious beings they have to have some form of consciousness.

Again, the potential for something does not mean it exists. Having potential merely means that it does NOT exist, but COULD under the right circumstances.

Here's another point to go on for consciousness. Let's take for instance, a Brown Anole lizard that has the ability to slough off it's tail as a defense mechanism. Once the lizard performs this act, the tail is still moving due to the nerve endings remaining alive for a short period of time after. While nerves are part of the Central Nervous System which connects and are a part of the brain, they do not, by themselves, have the capacity for consciousness. In short, the lizard has consciousness, the tail does not, even though it continues to move after being broken off or sloughed off. Atoms come together by biological processes, cells form from atoms (still no consciousness yet), cells then form specialized tissues called organs in particular the BRAIN. NOW you have consciousness.

I don't get where you're still getting the idea that the atoms could have some "form" of consciousness... consciousness is what it is, nothing more nothing less.

I do however think that there is the possibility of a collective of such, all of us together to form an even greater form that we, in our natural state our vaguely unaware of... I'm not sure the science is all there for proof of that though lol.

Who's to say atoms don't have consciousness of their own, specialized to their domain.

They certainly possess uniformity of structure, just like a human. Yet, we can't observe the human's consciousness - unless we are using consciousness to observe itself.

We don't need to observe another human's consciousness to gather evidence which suggests that all humans are conscious.

What does "uniformity of structure" have to do with anything? Are you suggesting that our consciousness arises merely because our structure is uniform? :undecided:

I don't necessarily think feces has uniform structure. Try eating it and next time it comes out of your chute, check and see if it's the same.  Science! We need more data.

And Poid, you can go eat shit too.

And, you miss the point entirely. Go find me hard evidence that consciousness exists you stupid phuck.

You can't even point at it.
