Impact of condoms on the enviroment.

I have been contemplating contraceptives lately.  I have also trying to be less and less impactful on the environment, and taking responsibility, little by little.

Both condoms and traditional birth control pills do not seem very practical to me.

The condoms create a lot of waste.  (although it is only .01% of our total waste as a society)

And Birth control pills both have a ton of packaging, as well as the hormones are getting into streams/rivers and making hermaphrodite fish, amongst other issues that are building up.

There is this wierd/crazy contraption for women that is 100% reversable:

But, I am sure that is pretty damn scary to most women.

What are your thoughts?  How do you feel about the environmental impact of standard contraceptives?

im not particularly inclined to bother with that stuff anyway. ill be dead long before its a huge problem.

i'm on the pill and the packaging is excessive. i'm pretty sure the outer case isn't even recyclable. but...it's saving me from having kids which would have more of an impact on the environment than the contraceptive does. :shrug:

well shit, i just thought of something, does anyone remember that special they had a while ago about the amount of shit a person uses up in their entire life? they even visually represented all of it with physical items piled up.

im sure a condom or an empty pack of pills is not hurting the earth as much as all of that stuff.
