I'm not good at identifying these. It always comes across as a Lepiota-Amanita hybrid in my mind, but I realize I'm missing the basic keys.

What is it and is it edible?

If you can produce gill sample slides, you need to pick up a copy of this book. I think you'll benefit from it.

The ome lacrymal shaped thing appears to be a cystidium of some sort.
