two weeks two days, and no pins yet.

I began pin cycle on two terrariums with casings and one ter. with cakes. Its been two weeks and two days, and still now pins. I cannot cold shock them. Am I screwed? Whats the problem?

what is the ambient temperature in the terrarium? are you giving them regular air exchanges? surely they are exposed to light? why can you not coldshock the cakes?

Temperature? RH? Method of gas exchange, how often, how long? Light exposure: what kind, how long?

temp is 70, fanning 2 a day, perlite humidity, light 3 hours a day. Actually, right after I posted this I saw there is one pin on one casing. Are more sure to follow?

Most likely, yes :grin:. Have you measured your RH, or is there condensation running down the sides of the bin?

yes there is condensation running down. the perlite isn't soaked, I just sprayed it liberally initially, and now I spray the walls and let the perlite soak up the runoff and release the moisture back into the air.

gotta monitor the temp and humidity. make sure you have a good method of air exchange, that's just as important.

The Hooligans had the same problem and they narrowed it down to fresh air exchanges.In 'THE MUSHROOM CULTIVATOR' Paul Stamens suggest in the growth parameters for Cubensis that 1 to 3 fresh air exchanges per hour are nessisary for primordia (pinning) formation.Now every time they think about it they just pop their terrarium and point their HEPA filter's exhaust for a couple of seconds each...it's really made their Treasure Coast pin like crazy...good luck..hope this helped :grin:
