Coldshocking?
    #1298184 - 02/11/03 12:27 AM (14 years, 4 months ago)

Do Mexicans (not Mexicana) require coldshocking? coz they have been in the terrarium for over 5 days and still don't show any signs of pinning. Temp: 73F Hum: 95-100% using an ultrasonic humidifier (casing feels moist)

Thnx!

I'm having exactly the same problem with mexicans. Out of several casings and 3 cakes, I have had only two pins and one harvested shroom. They have been in there for about 2 weeks. I'm thinking of giving up really, all this time and effort seems like a complete waste of time.
I've also tried coldshocking and dunking and it made no difference.

I took the prints myself ,from a mexican growing kit that flushed at chirstmas.
I've also got some amazonian and GT printsfrom the Free Spore ring.

I think I will just leave the casings alone, the coco coir layer has colonised very well but still no pins. This process seems to take forever!
Good luck with yours, I wouldn't panic just yet cos 5 days isn't that long.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, don't give up!!! i just read that it takes anywhere from 1-2 weeks before pins even start.....so patience patience patience. LOL i had to learn that myself cuz i was asking the same thing last night, i was like hey man i just birthed my cakes and want the mushrooms to pin like NOW

oh and ps....casings will take even longer than that becuase you have that time where the white stuff has to colonize the surface....
