So Iv got this mold on my ceiling

Well I have a black spotty mold on my bathroom ceiling, Its there because I used to shower with the door and window closed. Thing is iv left the window open with a screen in it for a long while now and it hasnt dried up and gone yet. The local humidity may be the culprit but thats no remedy

My health hasnt been so great lately and I wonder if this has something to do with it, is there any way to get the mold tested or should I merely focus on eliminating it; furthermore, how:confused2:

it could.. black mold could kill ya if im not mistaken.

but try some bleach and if your in an apt tell your manager asap.

Bleach that shit ASAP, and keep bleaching it as it comes back (it will if the humidity is not dealt with properly).  Also check into possible leaks above the bathroom.  You can put bleach in a spray bottle and it works well, but definitely avoid inhaling it while you clean.

Black mold can cause liver damage, cancer and potentially death. My advice is bleach the fuck out of that black stuff growing on your ceiling. Then spray it with salt as the molds hate sodium ions. That will (hopefully) keep it from reappearing again.

I've had black mold in my bathroom for the last fuck knows how many months and it doesn't bother me. I had some before in my room and it actually got me sick :frown:

How sick Mellow, Iv been more crazy than usual lately and my perceptions buggin out. Sometimes I do get these crazy rushes of euphoria which are momentarily pleasant but then serious anxiety sets on; I feel like im on drugs when Im not

Well I'd just feel dizzy and I'd find it impossible to concentrate. Just a general shitty feeling that went away when I bleached my walls.

My advice is talk to your landlord. If you don't have one get a commercial anti-mold product which would most likely be based on bleach.

I'm not sure how effective bleach is against the spores but its way better than waiting for it grow more.

After my house was flooded during hurricane Katrina I had a ton of black mold in it.

This is what I did;

  • Bought a toilet scrubber, anti-bacterial dish soap, bleach, bucket and a spray bottle.

  • Filled the bucket with dish soap and hot water and scrubbed the black mold off. The soap kills the bacteria tha the mold feeds on.

  • Filled sprayer with 2 parts water and one part bleach and sprayed the whole area.

  • Let it air out thoroughly.


I've been back living in the house since late 2007 and haven't seen black mold since.
