Pennsylvania ID request.

I apologize for the mediocre pics. We didn't set out for a mushroom hunt when we left home.









Habitat:
shady wood

Gills:
young specimens, white gills; turning to pink and finally black with maturity

Cap:
flat to concave at maturity. mature specimens form a darkened ring about the edge.

Spore print color:
We were on a walk to another spot, and so only stopped to take pictures.

Typically I dont pick agaricus that grow in the woods.

I tasted it and spit it out. I said they taste like portobella mushrooms from the store but he disagreed.

And why don't you pick them?

not sure where in PA you are but I saw a few that looked very much like that on my walk today (outside Philly). Didn't stop and pick them up or anything but I think I've got a picture or two. I think the next week or two will be very good for hunting :smile:

Many of the ones in woods should not be eaten.
