log.....
    #1496306 -

afoaf has created the log that was originally posted in mycotopia. it has been 7 days and no signs of any progress. it's about a foot and a half, the straw was pasturized the according to the tek, everything was followed exactly. the only different thing used was the spawn, instead of grain i broke up verm. /brf cakes. could this be the problem??? anybody have any guesses why this is working.

My friend has successfully spawned straw with spent BRF cakes, so that is probably not the problem.

Typically, after 7 days, you should have 80-90% colonization. I see no reason why pf type cakes wouldn't work. Did you use approximately 10% spawn to 90% straw? Also, it's important to pack the straw really tight into the tubing.

It's a straw "log": http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum2&Number=1471309&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1

Describe more in details what you did. Is the temperature high enough?
