Dragons do you think they ever truely existed?
    #14928484 -

Ok yes this is nerdy and highly unlikely. But does anyone know if there has ever been any true evidence that Dragons actually existed? even in the Dinosaur ages? And I don't mean Kamono(sp) Dragon.

I would so love to believe they have existed.

No human being truely knows their full capacity to love until they become a parent.

What differentiates a dragon from a dinosaur?

The ability the breathe fire? I assume that's impossible.

With how big and complex the universe is, and the endless possibilities it holds.
Id wager there are a few million some were out there.

I don't think that's impossible.  I mean, what if the dragon simply had a certain concoction of chemicals that can create fire? And then it would have an easily flamable liquid that it shoots out its mouth that catches fire. Don't underestimate nature imo.

Yeah but breathing fire would probably burn the inside of your mouth.

I see two possibilities. First they were (are) dinosaurs and our early ancestors were scared shitless by them. Second, they could be indigenous life from the planet we originally came from (we did get kicked out of Eden, right?) and they are still there, and we carry on the stories of them from our ancestors. Just some thoughts.

What if the inside of the dragon's mouth was coated with some kind of anti-fire mucus.

I went to a catholic school until about 6th grade, and in the religion class they told us dragons existed.

There was a special on the discovery channel describing how it could have been possible dragons existed....even explained chemically how the fire breathing could work in a biological creature. Its possible. Believe it.

And to you sir, that was basically exactly how they explained the dragon would protect itself from it's own fire.

no. but it's symbolistic.

and also, some people might relate spirituality to the existence of dragons, almost like some do with "reptoid" humans.

looking at history one can see that the reality of the dragon is not so much limited to, or even necessarily referred to as something entirely physical; it is often construed as an archetypal being, halfway between worlds with an inherent kinship to flame, or the fire element. it could be said there is a dragon inside each of us, as the dragon or serpent energy is often ascribed to the way of the life force by many buddhist and taoist mystics.

Reference/link?

I like to believe that they existed doesn't lore have to derive from something? most of the time something tangible?
Um fossils they, as far as I know, have not found any that dives proof to there existence but according to what I think I know they stayed in high altitudes like mountains obviously and there is still alot of fossils and animals that have not been discovered yet.

I too saw a special on the possibility of dragons. The best chance of breathing fire may have been a chemical reaction, much like the bombadier beetle.

Some dino fossils have an unexplained cavity in the roof of the mouth.

If an ancient human ancestor were to come in contact with such a reptile (maybe a strech) and they tried to explain the burning acid which is flamible, with their limited technological experience, One may explain it as a fire breathing whatever

You do realise the dinosaurs died out millions of years before even the earliest humans emerged?

Notice the (parentheses)?

Its a stretch. But a lizard with some chemical characteristics like this beetle may be possible.

It's not only a stretch but physically impossible for humans to have come into contact with dinosaurs...
