Over the past 5 years I've seen Bassnectar 6 times and every time I end up thinking that was kind of cool?  Honestly, it just feels like a massive amount of bass and whenever Bassnectar gets into some sort of groove, he completely changes the flow in a super ADD style manner.  Not something I'd pay $20+ per show for to be honest.  But to each their own.

That being said, Bassnectar, like the major dubstep artists, draws the OMGZ I JUST TOOK ROLLZ AND IM GOING TO DANCE LIKE I DONT CARE THERE ARE PEOPLE AROUND ME people who constantly run into to everyone, flail their arms like a moron, and have little care in the world for other people attempting to enjoy the show.  Perhaps this impedes my ability to give him a fair assessment.  The world will never know.    Furthermore, the majority of the crowd just goes to eat lots of dr00gz and feel some bass maaaaan and know little to nothing about music on any level.  As far as that particular comment goes, I'm not judging them personally but it's not my scene.  A good element of shows for me is chatting with other people in the crowd about up and comers so I can expand my (and perhaps expand others') musical horizon.

A good example is at the last show I went to and I was chatting with someone who was loudly exclaiming how he was a fantastic DJ and just wanted to play out for everyone.  When I asked him what he played, he proudly announced, "skrillex, rusko, and bassnectar."  Sounds pretty shitty to me. 

I completely acknowledge this post is very judgmental but meh, what can you do. 

Edit:  I've continually heard good things about Mimosa.  Hope to check him out soon!
