I'd like to be a vegan, but I don't have near enough will power.  I could easily give up eggs, and I very rarely eat them anyway.  Usually only if they're used in baking.  But I could never give up butter or cheese.  It's an addiction.  I would likely die of withdrawals if I had to give them up.

And mushrooms are awesome and all, but it's nice to have cheese for another source of protein.

But I eat wayy better as a vegetarian than I ever did before.  I had never set foot in a kitchen when I still ate meat.  I was content with what we ate.  But when I couldn't eat most of the food the rest of the family ate, I had to learn to cook for myself.  And after 8 years, I'm a beast in the kitchen.  My mom's a vegetarian now too, and my brother moved out, so that's just about all we eat now.  My poor dad.

Hey, I never thought of that but you're right. The sole culinary contribution of Canada has been the mislabeling of ham as "bacon."
