Is it too cold to start outdoors? How warm is warm enough?

I plan on doing an outdoor grow this year, it should be tons of fun. I haven't ordered my syringes yet, but I think it's about that time. Right now the average high is around 65 and the low gets down to 45. Is that too cold? I still need to colonize my cakes and then add them to a bulk substrate. How long would you say the whole process takes from innoculation to crumbling the substrate up outdoors? Like a month and a half? The jars are pint sized btw. Should I get started now? I mean by the time the cakes are totally colozined it would probably be warm enough for them to go outside. How cold is too cold for the PF classics?

P.S. What spore vendor would you recommend now that PF got screwed over?

Large outdoor teks require LOTS of spawn. Suggest you learn WBS in quart jars or filter/patch bags. A tiny outdoor patch can go to hell via a visit from one slug.

R/44 is a good vendor.

Lots of spawn eh. Well I mastered the PF tek with BRF so I wanted to do that, but it looks as if I dont have a choice. Could you give me some links so I can learn about filter/patch bags? Is there a sort of plateu where adding more spawn is pointless? It is true that the cakes keep sucking up nutrients and water from the soil so you have too many mushrooms to know what to do with up until freeze, correct?

You can use brf cakes as spawn. I think the point he was trying to convey is dont waste your time on a tiny patch (like i did last year, before i put in the MOAP) lol Anyway, a 1:10 ratio is fine for outdoor, just as it is good for indoor cult. I made a new patch already this year, and used about 6 brf jars in it. less than a 1:10 ratio, but without the chance of contams, thanks to that fat bitch mother nature (as moe says), it should do well. Just try it out, do what you think is good from advice, and your own feelings on it, and good luck brother... You'll love the outdoor guys... Peace

Approximately how many grams of shrooms did you pull over the whole season? I want to be able to have enough for myself and be able to hand them out to all my friends.

When your local "low" temps are 69*F and above , mycelium will go go dormant at and below 68*F.

I had a small patch, and it produced plenty for me and all my friends who liked to shroom. I guess it just depends on how often you plan on eating, and how big your patch is. Like i said, i had a very small patch, and had plenty.

About the mycelium going dormant... I dont know about that... Like i said i was getting fruits into october, and the low was definatly lower than 68. They slowed WAY down, but they still produced occasionally in the colder weather.

ya it drops below 68 even on a summer night in southeast michigan. i wana kno when my outoodr proj should go outside. it still gets kinda close to freezing at night (like around 40 degrees F) . i have no idea when to thro my spawn out there....
