Cow teat tek

Has anyone tried adding milk to PF cakes or anything?

We used milk as a substrate in my micro class, it grew yeasts really well (bacteria too).

I don't see how it would be any worse than the nutrient rich brf people use.

So you are talking about using milk in the BRF/Verm mix?

Cause thats a really bad idea.

Take some milk and put it out at room temperature in a glass, wait a few days.

True, but that milk wouldn't be sterile. Best thing for him to do would be to just try it, and see what happens.

Personally, I don't think it would make much difference.

I don't see how that would be a bad idea.

Milk is sterile inside the cow. Once it leaves, it becomes contaminated by equipment, etc. Like I said, my microbiology class did an experiment on the degradation of milk at room temperature.

Once it was PC'd there would be no viable bacteria/fungi anymore, the same way grain is sterilized.

As long as contaminants weren't introduced into the jars (which you want to avoid anyway), there shouldn't be any problems.

I'll get my friend to try it out next time around.

I was fixing to suggest powdered milk but Baby Hitler beat me to it!

Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

Peace,

Really? it's not around here. It's about the same. one thing about powdered milk is you can mix it up stronger than regular milk.

Its not cheaper? I'm no pro at buying p. milk so I just guessed. I figured that the fresher the more expensive...
