Hi, I'm new here, and I wanted to ask Atheists/Agnostics/Religious Skeptics here if they were scared that the Christian or any version of the ''Fire and Brimstone'' Hell might exist. Do you have any sort of worries at all? I'm an Agnostic, and I have been told I'm going to Hell by Christians before, but it doesn't bother me, I'm not worried. You know, do you ever think, ''Oh man, what if the Christians are right and I burn in Hell forever?'' Thanks, I just wanted your opinions. By the way, I was raised as a Christian and was told as a kid by my parents if I didn't believe in Jesus I would burn in Hell forever, it scared me a lot. Did anyone else here have any similar experiences?

One Christian told me that I would regret spending my whole life without Jesus and would be shocked when I died and was thrown into Hell to burn for eternity. I'm not trying to provoke anyone or incite people to insult each other, I'm just wondering if anyone here has had any similar encounters.

I think I'm largely a good person, I volunteer a lot and try to help others.  I do have a short temper sometimes, but the people I act that way with know I mean well.  If spending 70+ hours a week volunteering while working a full time job don't keep me out of hell, then I might fit in better in hell.

Yeh ive head that one before too. Its really confusing to me how someone who believes in a loving god also believes that hes going to make bad people suffer.

I believe in God. I have also put my faith in Jesus despite the overwhelming evidence; I guess thats faith for you. But I think the Bible was assembled with the intentions of controlling the masses, and to inspire fear of a place called hell. I don't think hell exists, and I dont think God has anything but pure and unending love for even the worst souls this planet/universe have ever seen. My 2c anyways. Not a popular view around here :lol:

Even if heaven existed I wouldn't want to be there. Humans are incapable of understanding eternity(religious zealots can't even grasp our existence emerging from the natural behavior of the elements and natural selection over a few billion years).

If, hypothetically speaking, the bible's real then I wholeheartedly would say fuck you to god. Why allow hell to exist? What can be done in our infinitely short lifetimes that warrants eternity in hell?  How do we have free will if god is omnipotent and knows what we'll all choose anyway? It might make more sense if god weren't omnipotent because then our love could be a surprise, but it's said he is so he know who will be born, how they'll live, and whether or not he's sending them to hell.

When you think about it it's pretty :flowstone: imo.

I'm not scared at all anymore, but when I was a kid, they would terrify me into going to church and reading the Bible. By the way, where did you find that funny gif of those two women sniffing fingers?

I completely agree with you, but imagine using these scare tactics on a young, vulnerable kid like I was. Other kids are subjected to this fear mongering as well, it probably horrifies them. Also, I was wondering that too, why do I deserve eternity in Hell for the things I do in a 80 to 90 year(At the very most) lifespan? It makes no sense.

we live on a lonely rock in the middle of an endless dark nether world. Also on this rock are things that can hurt, maul, eat, maim, scar, and otherwise fuck you up and its up to you to avoid it all.

sometimes i wonder if we (each individually) havent already had our chance and now we're in hell, unaware that there may have been something else before this.

Christians have cause so much pain, suffering, war, etc.  If there is a hell, many Christians should go there.  I voted no.

Anyone who says people who dont believe in god or worship are going to hell is a hypocrite. WWJD? He would say "A man that lives by his principles alone will be accepted into heaven." In my opinion. Im not christian but this is my beef with religion.

Compassion and morals above all. Ya good is not absolute but not causing suffering to others and respecting human life is a good way to live.:sun:

I also wouldn't want to live forever or re-incarnate as another being, I would prefer to just cease to exist. How many interesting things could there be to study and do for an eternity? It doesn't make any sense or have any appeal to me.

Atheists really need to think hard about why they chose athesim in the first place. Prior to Darwin the majority of scientists stuck with creationism because it was the best explanation as to why things are the way they are

Darwin was an intellectual thief, a psychopath, eugenicist and he dissected live animals. Wallace, Huxley, very few scientists at the time accepted Natural Selection. He was a con-artist and a very good salesmen. Huxley and the rest of them bought into evolution simply because they wanted some sort of vehicle, some way out of the current longstanding model(creationism). Thats the only reason they went along with him in the first place. And now evolution can never be questioned because the modern day high priests of science say so 

This is one the very few books that criticizes(demolishes, really) Darwin. It's a well documented book it's not some 'fundie hit-piece'.

The vast majority of biographies and such act like he's mankinds greatest gift or something when in fact he's the complete opposite. He and his followers(hitler, Stalin, our current real leaders) are a scourge on mankind. To darwin and the rest of his disciples we are nothing but meat and bones and not worth much at all

That's one of my favorite quotes. But the ironic thing is...I dont really believe it. I do think Hell exists, but I think that you have to choose to go there. I believe that it is more of a self sentencing prison.

But then I also believe in destiny. Though I believe our destiny is chosen by the individual, before we enter this life.

dont get the wrong idea though im not up on a high horse or anything. Deep down i think im going to hell. but I still believe in God anyway and try to live by Jesus' teachings, but its hard

I'm not Christian, but I don't think an omniscient creator would cast someone to eternal suffering for punishment.

I don't think it is a choice.  It is a belief and like it or not, I don't think you can pick and choose your beliefs.  Certainly your elders can affect your beliefs when you are young.  But I don't think you can decide to be an atheist.

Atheists should definitely be afraid that hell exists. If not, then their vaunted "skepticism" is clearly vulnerable to pride and self-importance.
