I'm not convinced that his veto would have been anything more than a stall. More convinced he knew it would have been just a stall.

The thing is though, he has allowed earmarks and lobbying.

The fact that Obama doesn't allow earmarks or lobbying are actually good examples of what a drastic change in pace this administration has represented. Thanks dude.

yup... he sure made a change... so transparent too

if obama vetoes it then any further action is all on congress

This page here shows that the promises he's kept far outweigh the ones he's broken or "stalled" with many more "in the works."

yet hundreds of promises are not listed

Not sure that is a fair conclusion from your statement.

The politics that you disregard are a part of your everyday life as a member of American society.
And you do have the power to change politics- 2003 California recall, all kinds of close votes on "important" issues (e.g. marijuana legalization)...

I'm not holding up Politifact's "Obameter" as a reliable source, I just thought it was odd that IRL should have used it as one to show Obama has broken all his promises when it appears to indicate he has kept most of them.

All I'm saying is Obama's one guy, he has to negotiate with the other branches and with time. I can't believe how many people apparently voted for him honestly thinking he was going to magically fix all the country's problems by the end of his term.

if obama vetoed it then it's no longer on obamas head, congress would have
acted without him and as such congress would get the blame for what ever
fuckup was left over, instead obama has asked for additional spending,
additional bailouts, a 3rd quantitative easing, all of which are fucking
this economy harder and still no one has created jobs no matter what the
media is telling you

In my opinion Ron Paul isnt just another puppet.  Just by listening to him speak I could immediately tell he knew what he was talking about. He has written many books on politics and economy including:  The Revolution: A Manifesto, End the Fed, Liberty Defined, and a few more.  Obama wore the Audacity of Hope, which was basically him talking about himself and his election. Also during the debates Ron Paul actually gives answers, most candidates just spit out some bullshit.

I don't regret voting for Obama but I don't think I'm going to in 2012. I'll probably write in Gary Johnson, depends on who the third parties run.

more than 600 promises made... 200 kept, lot's look at a kept promise and give it a little analysis

Release oil from Strategic Petroleum Reserve

The Promise:
"Will swap oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to cut prices . . . a limited, responsible swap of light oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) for heavy crude oil to help bring down prices at the pump."

Update June 23rd, 2011:
Amid unrest in Libya, U.S. agrees to release oil from reserves

oil prices are lower under the obama administration ($96/bbl) than under
bush ($153/bbl) yet the price at the pump is higher than under bush, obama
releases this reserve oil and the prices are still higher than under bush

so where's the fucking price cut?

Quote:
All I'm saying is Obama's one guy

Obama is a team of people, hundreds of advisers and their underlings,
Obama has minions that do his bidding, everything from the secretery of
defense/state to the lobbyists he's hiring and keeping around, obama is
far from 'one guy' now that he's president... didnt bush have his cronies?

I forgot to add that under the promises kept section, some of those are misleading, like the example pris pointed out. Not only has the price at the pump remained the same, a large portion of the oil he removed from reserve wont even be used here.

I can't believe you guys are trying to put me on the defensive about Politifact when I wasn't the one who cited it in the first place and never asserted its reliability. You are artists. :rofldrunk:
