Things would be different.  I could tell a black dude to "Keep the change."

Right. But you weren't asking only for policy changes that YOU support. Also, the change in question is very UNLIKE bush.

Most decision is up to congress.  Having a black chief when we're bankrupt is not cool to me.  I live in a college town so maybe I'm effected by it more.

It's :paranoid: out here..

dont write in a candidate that isnt on the ballot, if 10 million voters did
that in the last election for ron paul that's 10million 'wasted' votes
because the votes for mickey mouse and ron paul are not counted. the votes
for registered, qualifying candidates are so voting Ron Paul would yield
nothing while voting Cynthia McKinney would give her a vote because she
qualified under the green party

I think Obama did good on the health bill. The government has been letting the health companies run wild on people and something had to be done. The bill came out a pale shadow of its intended self, but it actually got through. This makes him nothing less than a miracle worker by presidential standards.

The idea that Obama's running the show the same way McCain would is just .

Bailouts, wars, telling congress to go fuck themselves, etc. In my opinion, I see quite a few similarites. Obama seems like a nicer guy than Bush, but when it comes to policy, almost nothing has changed. Yeah, there are some differences, but as a whole they really are not all that different.

Outside of the healthcare bill, what do you believe would be different under McCain?

Wars - no. Drone raids and aiding European allies does not equal the kind of wars Bush got us involved in.

Bailouts - not really his say, there was no way he could have talked congress out of bailouts. Which leads me to...

Yes, I'm glad that he's telling congress to fuck themselves. Congress is full of brown-nosing cronies and hired goons. Fuck them.

Write ins are useless, you're not doing anybody any good.  I voted for Obama in '08?  Do I regret it? No. Do I regret that our nation refuses to take anybody but the puppets that hit major platforms?  You fucking bet

Wars- You and I just disagree on the definition of war and military action

Bailouts- He did not have to sign them

Congress- Yes, congress sucks, but they are still elected and are nessasary. In my opinion, congress should be the focus for getting new blood in there in the next election.

What about the no lobbyist in his administration?

What about gitmo? ( some folks like this)

What about rendition?

Patriot act? ( some folks like this as well)

Billions in foreign aid?

No earmarks

List goes on and on

of course, except it's a health insurance bill that eliminates a lot of
the competition from the market, essentially allowing for a state endorsed
insurance system, this will put a lot of people out of work. Obama granted
waivers to hundreds of the largest employers in the nation, companies like
McDonalds who hire several hundred thousand people at minimum wage, these
people wouldnt have insurance yet you'd still be paying to insure them

Obama and the democratic congress went against the will of the american
pople and pushed obamacare through, is that doing good? is it doing good
when there's hundreds of hospitals across the country that provide free
medical care, there's state and county operated health departments, free
clinics, as well as medicare/medicaid that actually provide health care,
not an option for insurance which is what obamacare is

Quote:
The government has been letting the health companies run wild on people and something had to be done.

what are health care companies? you mean the insurance providers? right,
now a small group of providers are going to make fat sacks of cash, with
no oversight and it will cause a serious problem in the healthcare field
just as the Community Reinvestment Act did to the mortgage industry and
Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act did to banking

Quote:
The bill came out a pale shadow of its intended self, but it actually got through. This makes him nothing less than a miracle worker by presidential standards.

did you actually read the bill?

it started as 900 pages, it swelled to more than 2000 pages, how can it
possibly be a shadow of what it was supposed to be when it more than
doubled in size

I do hope the youth out there that were all giddy over him in 2008 learn a lesson from this.  I don't regret the vote because he's still better than McCain.  The worse of two evils is the best we're going to get.  Writing in a person is a waste of gas and time unless there's a chance millions of others will do the same and that's not likely to happen.  We'll continue to get our worthless candidates from both of the parties unless some rich person funds his entire campaign similar to Perot in 92.

Sorry, here we vote by mail, no waste of gas and precious resources. I will not vote for who i don't beleive in. I felt McCain and Obama where truly just a choice of political parties. Both equally a waist of time to vote for.

POTUS can't change that much in such a short time. One promised to much and was a wow factor and the other.... I still don't know how he became the republican choice. Which leads me to beleive..... :tinfoil:

The fact that Obama doesn't allow earmarks or lobbying are actually good examples of what a drastic change in pace this administration has represented. Thanks dude.

Congress would have overturned the President's vetoes on most of the things you're pinning responsibility for on Obama.

He's got some really strong opposition in high places to shutting down Gitmo. Military brass tend to be pushy people.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/obameter/

This page here shows that the promises he's kept far outweigh the ones he's broken or "stalled" with many more "in the works."

What I don't get, is if the bill is so great, why all the waivers in democratic districts? Plus, this is extremely selfish of me, but I am concerned how this bill will negativly affect my pay.

Everyone thought Obama would turn 'things' around and everything would magically get better. But then reality kicked in and nothing changed and nothing got better and everyone realized what politicians and politics are like.
However, when it'll be time for the next elections suddenly everyone will start to think all those presidential candidates are going to be different somehow. That this time around they will really fulfill their promises and turn 'things' around for the better. That suddenly the future will start to look brighter if only their candidate gets elected president.
Then if he doesn't fulfill his promises and/or doesn't improve things it's his fault and he's a liar etc... If his competitor gets elected it's everyone else's fault things don't get better.

The only solution is emigration to a country where you don't speak the language, can't vote and don't know the politicians. There, everything will be fair. Politicians will be honest and your dreams will come true.
