because I have to hide my jars, I hope I dont have to do this, ever, but the best way, I would think, is a heating blanket. Stick the jars in a box, set the BOX on top of the heating blanket.

The cheapest way to go.....if your on your computer alot or watch alot of TV....is to set up ontop of one of those. It keeps it at a nice temp. I use a incubation chamber, I just made it and it cost me about 20 bucks total, I could of done it cheaper but I bought the expensive RUBBER MADE tubs instead of looking around the corner to find the STERLITE tubs were twice as cheap.

The only drawback to setting up on your monitor is that those vent holes are on the top of it for a reason. You run the risk of frying your monitor. Probably cheaper inthe long run to build an incubation chamber or wait a little longer for your cakes to colonize. Some people will set up next to their water heater intheir house. You might try that if your water heater is in a place that will work.

I found an aquarium heater at wall-mart for ten bucks and then got a small rubbermaid food storage container and put the heater thru the side and sealed it. I put it in a cooler with my jars and I can keep it at 83,84,85, whatever with that. It also stays humid in the cooler so the jars dont lose any moisture.

Drill some holes in a cardboard box for airflow. Stick your jars in it and toss them on top of the fridge. Cover the box with a sheet making sure that it hangs down the back of the fridge a bit. Keeps my jars in the 80's quite nicely.------------------ Be sure to check out www.3mshrooms.homestead.com for your spore needs

Well, if you want to go around with a name extremely similar to mine, go ahead. I cannot stop you. It would be nice to have some diversity here, so people don't get us mixed up. Do what you want though.Grimace
