I have started doing pushups in the 7 weeks, randomly when i have time. I could only do 10, then id be stuffed. Now i can do 60 pushups easy, no stress, and 100 if i push it hard
musles are getting big, and my sholders are meaty and pecks are getting big too
pretty good what this simple exercise can do for you

Yeah, pushups are definitely a good exercise. I do them pretty moderately. Maybe a couple hundred a few times a week over 4-5 sets. They make you bulk up pretty quick if you are just starting out doing them for sure.
If you want to add some more weight to them I'd suggest getting a weight vest, they are a great investment. I can do about 50-60 no problem usually, and with my 50 pound vest on I can only do about 20-25 if I push it really hard.
That's the one that I have, and I love it.

I'm trying to get back on the work out train. This story is a good reminder.

Pushups are definitely a great exercise brother, keep it up! I started doing hand stand pushups myself, they are pretty intense but I always have a great feeling when i'm done with them. Anyways thanks for sharing!

It doesn't take much to do 60 fast pushups. I would encourage you to focus on your form and slow down. Make a diamond shape with the insides of your hands, and when you lower your body, make sure your arms stay close to your side. You will get more out of your pushups and this will work the chest, also.

I could only do 2, then 5, and now 10! I know 10 is like the bare minimum but I feel so much better now that I can do that and hope one day I can do 50!

Pushups are great to do when your doing nothing haha like watching tv at home ect...I do pushups periodically throughout the day usually atleast 50 every time. Even at the gym people will do a set of weights and then quickly go into some pushups right after.

Placing your hands close together like that would actually cause you to work your arms (triceps) much more so than your chest. If you're trying to work your chest more, you'd want to go with a wider stance.

What I like to do sometimes is start out wide, do ten of those. Go down nice and slow while breathing in, then push up quickly while exhaling. Then do ten normal ones same style. Then finish with ten with the diamond shape with hands together.
Sometimes when doing the last ten I can't get the last few in so I'll drop to my knees and finish them that way.
Great way to get chest and arms all at the same time. Going down nice and slow works out your muscles a lot more than just pushing them out as fast as you can.

yeah exactly you want to do them slow and precise....breath in and out you can actually feel your muscles working harder than if you do them fast and sloppy

Definitely sole, going slower on the negative allows more time under tension, which in turn allows more time for your muscle to actually work. Pushups are always a great body weight exercise.

Quick doesn't always mean sloppy.
While you're down there doing push-ups do some bridges. Great for small muscles you really can't get at.

I have to give you props. You can do something I can not do. Push-ups have been a thorn in my side for years... I started I could only do one. Two years later I can do about 40. My long term goal is 100+.

Keep it up brother, you will definitely get there for sure! For years I struggled myself, hard work and determination definitely changed that.

I am in pretty decent shape, but can barely fathom doing more than 50-60 pushups.
100 would be ridiculous. Great goal, btw.

Btw there is nothing wrong with doing sets of pushups rather than doing them all at once...and could possibly be more beneficial...do 10 wide then 10 close ect and even going all the way down on 10 and then switching to 10 mid range...there are so many different pushups you can pretty much target all the areas of the chest. Also you can put your legs up on a chair ect

Push ups aren't a great indicator of strength or fitness.
Like all body weight exercises, difficulty is influenced largely by how heavy you are. For example, if you have heavy muscular legs, it will be far more difficult to do a push than it is a person with skinny legs. Same goes for your back, etc.
I would measure your strength and fitness in the gym and not be overly confident/pessimistic about your strength sole based on push ups.
