Chest Pain??

For about 5 or 6 months I've had this chronic chest pain that I feel underneath my left pectoral. It feels like a tension and light stabbing pains. It happens mostly when I lay on my back to read or go to sleep. I can't hardly fall asleep on my back anymore because of it. I can completely relax myself and it will still not go away, even after meditation. I am young and healthy, I shouldn't be having heart problems. What the hell is this?

No I quit smoking cigs and pot about 3 weeks ago. Before that I didn't smoke that much. Haven't been doing hardly any drugs either, except for a trip or a few drinks here and there.

Are you thin, and tall? There's a condition called "Spontaneous Pneumothorax" that my little brother had for a long time. It basically causes your lung to collapse a little bit, and then reinflate - and it can get worse if you don't get treated for it. His symptoms started as light chest pain, and then he described it as feeling like a deflating balloon with some wheezing. Hopefully it's not this, but I figured I should mention it, in case this gets worse. You can go to a Doctor and describe your symptoms, and have them listen to your lungs with a stethoscope or take xrays. Good Luck

That's fairly tall, and fairly thin. My brother is 5'10, about 145 or so. Just something to keep in mind if it continues happening.

What you have my friend is a Hiatus Hernia, you have burned your gullet with acid that has refluxed back out of your stomach. This causes a pain under the left pectoral which some people mistake as heart problems. Go see your doctor or by some good antacids the ones that stop acid production and don't just neutralise it such as Zantac. take them for a couple of weeks and I gaurantee the pain will stop. I went through the same worrying(oh! I'm too young to die etc)
It gets worse when you lie down because the acid isnt held down by gravity so just seeps back out of your stomach to carry on burning your oesaphagus.
Drinking, smoking, drugging and fatty/spicy food all aggrevate it.
Hope this helps put your mind at ease
