HELP!!! win XP question
    #1454025 -

I just purchased an athlon XP 2700 and an ASUS N7N8X motherboard all of the internet, I installed windows XP onto the computer. But what is really strange is when I started up windows for the first time and went into the device manager under the processor icon, it listed it as an Athlon XP 1500, now what the fuck?! I highly doubt that the company sent me the wrong processor (i even checked my order on the internet and the recept that came with it in the mail with it) I ran 3DMark 2001 and it showed that my processor was running at 1.27Ghz(which an XP 1500 would) it also showed that it could potentially be running at 3GHz. So what does this mean?! peace.

Did you install all the motherboard drivers?

Did you enable high speed settings in the BIOS?

Check this page and check your board configuration. Try a BIOS update.

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

Some motherboards have jumpers you need to set to determine the clock speed... check the manual.

I fixed the problem...all I had to do was set the external clock frequency from 100MHz to 166. Peace.
