Contams or pins?

My fastest growing jar is nearly colonized, and there are 3 small black spots in it. None of my other 6 growing jars (4 didn't grow, 1 lost to contams right at the start because I accidently got unsterile water in it) have any visible contams, and they were all sterilized in a pressure cooker the same way.



Are these black spots contams or start of pinning?

Watch them to see if they grow any bigger. Watch them Attentively if you have Asperilligus Niger then you dont want to whole jar full of it.

those are peices of vermiculite particles..(if your using verm)

i get those all the time

They don't look like vermiculite, but they haven't grown since I last posted. I was planning on casing the jars (I used cheap non-widemouth jars so I can't use cakes without breaking the jars), but I'll probably break just the one jar to get a cake and cut out the possibly contamitated bits with a sterile blade.
