Raw opium leaking from stems? Pics attatched

Has anyone ever seen, or know why this happens. I have two of my hens and chicks poppies leaking opium from their stems without being punctured or nicked, and the flower is still attached. I'm not too worried about it or anything but it's just weird and I've never heard of poppy stems doing this.

Niceeeeeeeee! and yes this is common for poppies to leak opium, usually happens when a small incision is cut into the stem (maybe by a human or insect) or maybe the plant is producing more latex opium then it can already handle and is excreting the excess latex to prevent the poppy plant from bursting. maybe thats why they have small pore in the stem to release any excess product (this is my theory)

You can get small scrapes kind of like that from wind damage.
I would bet those are Bug bites. Sometimes the bugs get stoned and fall off, nap a while then crawl away.
