A tortoise and hare are racing. The tortoise runs at a speed of 0.10m/s, and the hare 2.0m/s. During the race, the hare stops to take a nap for 2 minutes. The hare wakes up and proceeds to lose the race to the tortoise by 20cm.
a) How long did it take the tortoise to finish the race?
b) How long was the track?

Time is ~126.2 seconds, distance of track is ~12.6
I could be wrong though

Tortise runs 0.1m/s*Ys = Xm
Hare runs 2.0m/s(Ys-120s)= Xm-0.02m Solve for
Solve both equations for x
2m/s*Ys-240m + .02m =Xm =0.1m/s*Ys
2m/s*Ys-240m + .02m =0.1m/s*Ys Solve for Y
Y = 126.3s
Insert Y= 126.3 into Tortise equation and/or hare equation to get 12.6m

Set it up as a system of equations.
The distance each travels,

Here we have two equations and four unknowns, so wee need two more equations. These are had from the information given,

Now its just simple algebra that I will leave as a exercise for the reader.
