store bought manure/verm for casing

would a 50/50 mix of these work well for a casing?

I don't think you would want to use those as casing. Maybe just the verm but not the manure.

Hola,

I used store bought manure for sometime with marginal results, ranging from great to alright, only problem was slow colonization (but faster than brown rice flour). I came to the conclusion it was that bagged manure has a pretty high pH value unlike the straight from the cows ass. I STRONGLY recommend EVERYONE to buy worm castings from your local Armstrongs, almost odorless, and bakeable, colonization times like you wouldn't believe, little to NO contams).

oh yeah, and you want your casing layer to have NO nutritional value at all, its only there to provide addition moisture. Else the mycelium will start colonizing the layer and you're asking for overlay. My advice, use the 50/50+ tek (half verm half peat moss)

what household items would neutralize the pH of peat moss? baking soda? alkaseltzer? or do i need to get some limestone?
