oyster mushrooms all fucked up
    #1419413 -

hello, I am fruiting some white oysters off a pint of wheat inside the same terrarium I fruit cubes in, but they look all fucked up. I figured it had something to do with air exchange, but I was a bit confused as I have grown cubes in the terrarium without a bubbler or any kind of fanning and they came out fine. The first cake I fruited when I didn't have the bubbler going, produced fat 'choad' like shrooms with tiny caps. For my next attempt, I installed a bubbler and started fanning it more, the shrooms have bigger caps and look much better, but their stalks are still way too big, and look kind of fucked up. I would podt a picture, but I do not have a camera. Anyway, Does anyone have a suggestion on what the problem could be? Is it air exchange or is the humidity too high?

Oyters are very CO2 sensitive, much, much more than cubensis.

I think your right and that its air exchange. As from what ive seen and read
oysters are very sensitive to co2 levels ,and require more air exchange that cubensis. Are the shrooms sort of long and thin?as thats a sign of high co2 levels in oysters i belive.
Try to get a better air exchange and i hope it works out better for your
next flush.Good luck with it.

they look like really fat legs with bad cellulite. and the caps are really small.
Thankyou for the information, I might leave the lid open a bit and maybe just have a hose pumping air into the terrarium instead of through a bubbler.

I had the same problem. I made many more holes for good air-exchange and now they look nice and big and ready for harvest!   They look so yummy!
Good luck to you!

I've never had oysters in a tank? We fruit them open air by just opening the top of the bag and rolling it down. I didn't know about the increased co2 sensitivity.
