Welfare drug testing.
    #13954393 -

I was reading this thread in the Shroomery News Service, and I noticed this sentence, "Republican lawmakers demanded the study last March, saying their constituents considered it unfair that some Idahoans are drug-tested by their employers while those on public assistance are not".

I have read a lot of people on here say they oppose random drug tests being required for welfare, but that statement in the article makes the drug testing completely fair. It's not right for actual workers to be drug tested, while people who sit at home, getting free income aren't drug tested. Thoughts?

Well, I think if employers drug test they must drug test for welfare. When they outlaw private and government company drug testing, they can get rid of welfare testing too.

I think its fucked up that somebody that does drugs would take that stance. You really want some poor bitch to go without food stamps because some body felt sorry for her and smoked her out?

That's pretty funny considering you clearly don't even know what "liberal" means. Granting more authority to the government would be the liberal stance in this instance.

They can do away with the entire welfare program for all I care.

Personally, I don't give a fuck if people on welfare spend their money on drugs. All here should know that drugs are medicine and recreation at the same time. I'd rather they spend 20 dollars a day on drugs to keep themselves happy than fall in to the much more crippling addiction of consumerism that plagues our country.

Also, I don't give a flying fuck that my tax money goes to them. Which it doesn't. The government uses income taxes to pay off its debt to the Federal Reserve, but still has to borrow more money from it each year to spend on whatever.

I'll break it down for the people don't know...this is how a dollar spends its life.

Born in the Federal Reserve.
Lent to the Government.
Deposited by the government in a bank, which uses it as capital for more loans.
Spent by the government.
Deposited in another bank, which doesn't affect the loans that were issued by the first bank, and is also used to support more loans by the second bank.

And so on.

Until it gets to the consumer, who pays taxes to pay off some portion of the government's debt, then deposits the remainder in a bank, and spends it...and then that cycle pretty much keeps going and going and going until the dollar's been taxed so many times that there's nothing left of it.

So, like I said, I don't give a fuck if the people on welfare are spending their money on drugs. It has absolutely nothing to do with me and my money. If you want your tax money to go some place useful, complain to the Federal Reserve, not the government, and especially not the poor fucks who can't support themselves for whatever reason.

it helps her to prioritize, is her welfare check more important than a quick
high, is she willing to risk letting her kids go hungry because she wanted a
buzz... since it's typically someone abusing the system by using their
foodstamps to buy drugs, I think drug testing of welfare recipients and
members of congress should be mandatory, congress must be on drugs as is
evidenced by the shit they say every day

you go hank!

isnt an addiction to crack cocaine just another form of consumerism and
addiction? wouldnt that $20/day exceed the typical $400/mo that most
foodstamp recipients receive

Your an ignorant sub urban white kid . Granted yes their are many people abusing the system . But growing up in the inner city with schools the way they are now , its a miracle that anyone makes it out alive. Not mentioning the environment and culture that has formed in areas of lower income .

Boosting our economy ? whos paying for these drug tests ? "too lazy" ? am I to lazy ? are you ? wheres the red tape and the line in the sand ?

If anything we should find ways to employ and change wel fare laws all together as we slowly ween America off of them . The systems that support the needy were implemented unconstitutionally waaay back in the day . The support system that "freed" us of finical ruin in the first great depression .

If its anyone's fault its every single fucking one of us for living in a capitalistic society where class systems are unavoidable . Where the middle class begs the upper class for protection from the lower class . The lower class begs for help from the upper class and while both other of the lower tiers are just trying to LIVE the upper class sits modestly and watches . Arguments on internal government changes at this point are a joke . We need to evolve as a species or we are only doomed to repeat our current reality until we destroy everything around us and ourselves .

what a load of bullshit, it's easy to make excuses but it's difficult to
work to get out of a situation, everyone looks for the easy way

who formed that culture, the people living in it?

who's paying far more for the government benefits... I'll give you that later

that's why I support workfare, you want a government check, you need to
spend a required number of hours working your ass off cleaning up toilets
in public offices, sweep floor, empty trash, police the parking lot for
cigarette butts and other debris, spend your time at the county landfill
sorting trash, refuse and recyclables... if you cant show up for work?
you cant get a check!

I wonder how many will opt to find real jobs

bullshit, the top 1% pays 40% of the taxes, the top 2% pays 60% of the
taxes, the lower 60% pay nothing in taxes and many are entitled to more
than they payed in, those wealthy capitalists are the ones supporting the
lazy welfare class

IMO the issue is arbitrarily selecting behaviors that are "good" or "bad".

What about cell phones or a car?  Can welfare recipients have those?  TV's?  What if a welfare mom wants to send the kid to private school etc?  Where do we draw the line?

The actions of private employers and whether or not they drug test are a different consideration.

True, though I think the point is to force people out of the program, rather than regulating who shouldn't be a part of it. It seems like there's gotta be a better way though.

am I paying for them? I cant get government assistance because I own my
vehicles, doesnt matter that I've been out of work for 3 years and have no
income, I own property and other assets so in addition to making sure
those assets are maintained I have to make a lot of choices, do I want to
eat or have a cell phone

if she can afford a private schools why is she on welfare?
