I went to Best Buy today and saw this laptop on sale for 670.  I went ahead and impulsed bought it.

That's a 17" version of what i have. You'll be happy. HP gives you a lot of bang for you buck, and are cheap to service.

Yeah, I hear HP is a solid brand.

It also plays Blue Ray which is something most laptops don't do.

My tech geek friend said I should have gone with an Intel I-5 or I-7 but that would just cost 300-500 dollars more.

Yea the intel processors are faster in some aspects. Others AMD takes crown. Plus when you get an AMD laptop you are sure to get a solid graphics card. It's not worth the money in the long run, considering you'll want to upgrade in 3-4 years, and your not a hardcore gamer.

Cost of ownership for Intel is much higher than AMD

I'm not a hardcore gamer in any aspect, so I suspect I'll do okay with this laptop.

Toshibas are a solid brand but I prefer my hp(reinstalled windows to get rid of crapware)
