Psychedelics as headache treatment

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck or experience with psychedelics stopping or delaying the frequency of headaches.





I've seen the research for psychedelics as treatment for cluster headaches.  Unfortunately cluster headaches are pretty seperate.

Have had very frequent primary stabbing headaches lately (ice pick headaches as they're known), as well as semi-frequent tension headaches(will usually last a full day).  Both of these are idiopathic problems and without a probable physical cause.  I am trying to find out what my stressors are and solve, but this is a potential short term solution.


It's been a while since I've dosed, and if it were to help I may find time in a busy schedule to medicate.

I don't suffer from cluster headaches, but many here (some here because of it) say it helps them stop their headaches.  It supposedly stop a cycle in a dose-dependent manner.  I heard one person say something like 1g stopped them for 1 month and 3g 4-5 months, but I'm sure it is different for everybody.

Sorry, my wording may have been misleading. 

I do not suffer from cluster headaches, however I do suffer from two other frequent types of headaches.

I'm not sure how exactly you would go about treatment, but it's a really interesting topic. In my experience, they definitely do have an effect. I was camping with some people and had a massive headache from the fire smoke and alcohol and someone gave me a small hit of DMT. I'd never done it before and was pretty nervous so I barely inhaled and didn't trip very much, but it instantly cleared my headache abd I didn't get any more for the rest of the trip at least.

Treatment for cluster headaches is scheduled dosing every month(s) as a preventative measure I believe.

I know cluster headaches are much worse, but hopefully this would be a similar treatment.

Thanks for the info JT, I'm going to try within a week or two and post either way.

Well if it is that simple then it's a feasable option, once a month dosage prevents them? That would be awesome, is there data to back this up?

If you suffer from bad headaches from time to time there are some ergot derivates that can clear headaches, look into them i believe it's a ergotamine tartrate with caffeine formulation. They don't come with side-effects such as hallucinations, bizzare thought associations amuzement, a sense of well-being and fun, but if you get a bad one at work you can't really dose I presume.

I would be doubtful of mushrooms as consistent treatment for regular migraines, seeing as they have caused them for me post-trip in the past.  Not to mention the single cluster headache I have experienced in the past was a rather different experience from any migraine, far more painful, unbearable, and altogether different.  Though, I won't say it definitely won't help.

Yep Byrain... others have said same thing about unfortunate post trip headache experience.

What I know is that it works like a charm for my age 52 year wife; she has suffered appallingly from vascular headaches all her life, but the miracle of psilocybin has saved her from pain this last year.  She only takes .5g of semilanceata fortnightly so maybe this low dose protects her from possible 'after trip' headaches and probably because shes not actually tripping on this sub physcoactive dose.  I'm always on at her to take MORE but shes too damn stubborn lol.

I'd say getting her to try it all was a great success :thumbup:

Most generally shrug off my suggestions on the matter as crazy talk.
