Chronic Headaches

I've had chronic headaches ever since early childhood. I don't especially like perscription medications, and common pain relievers (Ibuprofin, Asprin, etc) no longer work, even after extended disuse (with the intention of lowering tolerance). I know it's not a tumor, and If the nasal spray that was forced on me doesn't work, then it isn't my sinuses.
I eat well, and am fairly active. I was hoping I could be supplied with ideas, information, remedies especially. I'm on a limited budget, but I can come across money sooner or later.

I used to suffer from headaches all the time. Lots of migraines as well. Just like you, the pills stopped working and it sucked. Then I changed my diet. No more fast food, very little soda/coffee/etc., cut sugar intake WAY down, and drink lots(almost solely) of water. Now I am free from headaches for the most part, and migraines are very rare.

Caffeine is not my problem, I do well without it, but life is less fun. I eat fast food when it is free, and have cut down on almost all soda. The most unhealthy thing diet wise I will be doing is pancake week, and that's just because I felt like making a lot of pancakes this morning.
Edit: There is no doubt I have a caffeine addiction problem, I have a 2 pot a night habit, plus the coffee pops I make to vary how I ingest it.

It could easily be withdrawal you are experiencing. Have to cut the caffeine out and see how it goes. Good luck!

I've cut caffeine for a month or so multiple times, it really doesn't affect me, except for sleeping patterns. If I do experience withdrawl, it isn't as bad as my normal headaches.
Is there any herbal, or whatever things I could try?

No idea. The diet changed worked for me. You'll have to wait for someone else to throw their 2 cents in the pot. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I agree with daimyo. It all starts with diet.
Cut out the coffee. That could be a large part of your problem right there. Caffeine thins the blood. If I'm not mistaken, migraines are caused by blood being too thin, causing spasms in the muscular walls of the blood vessels in the brain. As opposed to regular headaches, where it clots and is too thick.
I never get headaches or migraines for some reason. But my mom and several of the females in my family suffered (and suffer) from migraines for many years. Some foods seem to be triggers for migraines.. foods such as: dairy products, eggs, wheat, red meat, shellfish, alcohol.
Stress and fatigue are also major factors. As well as the toxicity levels of the liver.
I suggest drinking a shitload of water. Instead of coffee.
If you are looking into herbs... there is one in particular that has been used for thousands of years to effectively treat migraines, and I would hightly recommend that you look into it - Feverfew.
Quote:
Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium) is the only herb used in European Phytotherapy known to be specific for the treatment of migraine. It is also the best example of a remedy well known to medical herbalist's that has recently been accepted and used by allopathic medicine. It has been used throughout recorded medical history as a bitter tonic and remedy for severe headaches. Through wide media coverage in recent years, the herb has gained a well deserved reputation as a "cure" for migraine. Clinicians at the London Migraine Clinic observed that patients were reporting marked improvements when they took the herb. Thankfully, these doctors had the inquiring and open minds of the true scientist and so started their own investigations into the claims for Feverfew. Clinical observations were soon being reported in the journals.1,2
An example is the work of Dr. Hylands and colleagues. Seventeen patients who regularly ate fresh leaves of Feverfew daily as prophylaxis against migraine were invited to participate in a double-blind, placebo controlled trial of the herb. Of these, eight patients received capsules containing freeze dried Feverfew powder and nine, a placebo. Those taking the placebo had a significant increase in the frequency and severity of headache, nausea, and vomiting as well as the re-emergence of untoward effects during the early months of treatment. The group given capsules of Feverfew on the other hand showed no change in the lack of symptoms of migraine, providing clear evidence that Feverfew can prevent attacks of migraine. This led the researchers to strongly suggest its use in migraine sufferers who have never treated themselves with this herb before.3 Long term users often report beneficial side effects such as relief from depression, nausea and arthritic pain due to inflammation.
Acupuncture could also greatly help.
Other recommended herbs:
Gingko Biloba Ginseng Kava Kava Valerian Wood Betony Peppermint Chamomile Lavender

I would also suggest "Feverfew" it is a fantastic pain-killing herb full of parthenolides especially recommended for migraine and severe headache sufferers. Best use the leaves straight from the plant for tea making or buy a decent extract or dried product from your health food store. Maybe also cold (or cool) pressed "Evening Primrose" to balance your hormones and address your strees levels (yeah cut down on caffeine and refined sugars too, try Rooibush or Barleycup sweetened with honey). The "Evening Primrose" was infact revered by the Amarind tribes for both male and female problems.

I'll look into the herbs, Ginkgo Biloba did nothing for me last I used it. Experimentation with my diet will also happen, I'll check into cutting dairy or wheat first, or just a lot of salad.
I doubt I'll do acupunture, I'm rather stingy at times, and have read conflicted things on both sides.
Valerain, sounds familiar, Erowid?
My health food store seems rather small, I hope they have some or any of these things.

I recommend smoking DMT for various healing purposes, smoking it with the intent to heal your head pain. Also, ayahuasca is one of natures best healers. They've helped me with my pseudo-tumors that form behind my eye. It may be hard for you to get ahold of, but it's not hard to learn basic chemistry and extract it.
Pain meds obviously aren't helping. Blessings brother, hope everything works out soon.

I was thinking of growing something that contains DMT...
"Scientific Name: Tanacetum (chrysanthemum) parthenium Common Name: Feverfew Other Common Names: OtherFeverfew Plant Type: Perennial Where To Plant: Full Sun to Partly Shady Soil Types: Average Zones (See US Zone map): 5-9 Germination: Easy Number of Seeds Per Pack: 100 Uses: Medicinal Notes: Good on migraine headaches.
TANACETUM PARTHENIUM A medical survey in England indicates that 1 to 4 leaves of feverfew infused in a tea or eaten in a sandwich daily reduce the number and severity of migraine attacks in some sufferers. It even has pleasant side effects including a sense of well-being, lack of tension and relief from arthritis. Approx. 0.4% parthenolide."
Cheap, seems to be what I'm looking for. Does anyone have experience growing this? Would it be worth it to grow my own?
