Wild Flammulina velutipes (Enoki) - UK

I found these beauties growing just around the corner, I had them ID'd on a UK Wild Mushroom site as Velvet Shank ie Flammulina Velutipes (Enoki)- apparently no other options at this time of year in the UK.

They are not of much interest to me as a commercial crop, but if anyone on here is interested I can attempt to clone one and/or do a spore print (a nasty cold has kept me out of the lab for weeks!). A 2nd ID opinion would not hurt either.

those look great solarity. i like the second picture especially.

They look like enoki to me. A white spore print would help confirm it for you.

They are most definitely Flammulina velutipes! :thumbup:
It's fascinating how the cultivars and the wild ones look nothing alike. Personally I prefer this look.

You seem to go out into the field alot for hunting and cloning, Im always interested edible wild clones from UK.

Badman -  you have been super generous to me and many others so I shall hit the trail tomorrow and if they are still there I will see if I can get you a clone going!

Maybe the trick where you pour hot agar over the plate that is showing some mycelium growth?  I've done that once and it worked well.  A little patch of mycelium poked it's head through the top and I managed to transfer it to a new plate.

Yay... just got round to a making up some Agar for a hot pour and when I looked today on a couple of the plates the myc had outrun the bacterial sludge so I have made some transfers instead, fingers crossed one of them is clean!
