I had a look at my petris again today and low and behold my store bought enoki that I cloned has finally started fanning out over the agar !  :laugh:

Is it common for the mycelium to be so thin and wispy with this strain ?

Yeah !
A description of enokitake mycelium from Stamets:
"White, longitudinally linear, becoming finely appressed and tinged light brown to spotted with golden yellow-brown zones with age. The surface roughens, resembling fine sandpaper, and sometimes becomes beaded at the earliest stage of primordia formation."
