Blushing disappreciation
    #13750497 -

Anyone else a fellow blush-er? I tend to blush whenever I'm any bit embarrassed and quite frankly I hate it! :shakefist:

I guess it's gotten better, but it's still rather annoying. Eh, whatever... Anyone on the same boat as me?

Yeah I'm a chronic blusher. Pretty annoying skin condition.

Have you tried anything to combat it? I think it's all mental, so I don't know... perhaps it's possible to help it

Well mine's not really blushing.. it's a pretty severe skin condition. Things like alcohol, spicy food, too much sun, or just random.. I get really bad flushing of the face. It can be uncomfortable.

My face is always a little red, but certain things really set it off. If there was a surgery or medication for it, I'd have it in a heartbeat. I really hate it.

Blushing sucks. Especially when you don't even realize you're doing it until someone calls you out on it :crankey:

Yeah i had that both a skin condition and blushing.

I get called out on it all the time and it seriously fucks me off.  Its like people think I should be able to do something about rocessia when there is no cure and they are like "you've got a red face".  yeah?  you've got a pink face wtf am I supposed to do about it - just fuck off and live and let live.

Its like everyone else expects me to change the color of my skin, well i fucking can't i was born this way douchebags!  Its fuckin annoying.  TBH at one point I stopped socialising completely cuz I just can't be bothered with people constantly laughing about it and asking about it.  Todays society expects everyone to be perfect and fit in a perfect little box.

the blushing thing I found diminshed as I got older and stopped giving a fuck.  Quitting drugs stopped it as well - when I was smoking drinking all the time it got 10 times worse.

My mom has that and sometimes people ask if she's blushing. One younger girl at her work asked her why she didn't try to cover it up and that pissed my mom off (She also has really dry skin, so wearing powder cover up makes it super flaky)

She developed it after she was pregnant with me. I hope I don't get it if I have kids
I smoke and she never did, so that makes it even more of a possibility..

exactly.  Thats how retarded this perfectionist culture is.

Its like going up to a black person or a red indian and being like "ewww why don't you cover up that skin that isn't the same color as mine!"

Its fuckin ignorant.

Yeah i know. I have a gap in my front teeth (like a lot of black people seem to do, but I'm white) and people are like (and used to be more like this when I was in elementary and middle school): why didn't you get braces/get that fixed/etc?

And it's like fuck you, getting braces/getting a gap fixed is purely cosmetic, a pain in the ass, and a waste of money. My teeth are fine.

I hate blushing. My face gets hot too, so I can feel it, and it makes the situation more awkward, and uncomfortable.

Its the brainwashing.

Theres someone constantly on a box in their living room telling them to be perfect by buying their product.  look good an people will like you!  Buy Buy Obey Obey.

Honestly, TV and advertising has a lot to answer for.

Yeah, I blush alot too. I'm really self-conscious about it. I still avoid socialization and supermarkets and presentations. It really has a hold on me. I have noticed that i've grown to accept it when it creeps in. I just wear a hat on my head, I notice that this helps alot... also wearing sunglasses indoors helps, but that's seen as ridiculous by todays society. I feel that my condition springs from a general sensitivity to light (particularly fluorescent lighting)...my eyes and skin begin to itch when exposed to excessive light, so the hat and shades are lifesavers when appropriate...

Some say that tobacco exacerbates the problem, but i really disagree. I find that Organic Tobacco (sans all the chemical mumbo jumbo in commercial cancer sticks) helps me to calm down and also seems to relax my face. Cannabis used to help, but I just get anxiety attacks from Ganja now, so I've discontinued use for the time being.

In terms of the emotional response to Blushing, you guys may want to look into the Sedona Method or other Release techniques. They can help alot.

Drinking ice cold water (8 glasses or more a day) can actually trip your inner thermostat, bringing your body temp. down significantly...this helps tremendously if you have access to pure water.

Here's an informative video that may help your situation(s):

And SirLurks, TV sucks.

I blush, and actually I'm pretty happy about it. The blushing reflex is one that conveys genuine shame and remorse to the human subconscious, so if you do something shitty and you blush, you're more likely to be forgiven.

I'm in the same boat.

I don't blush as much as I used to, now that I feel less ashamed of my actions, but I've had girls tell me it's cute, so whatever.

I definitely feel more comfortable around people that blush...but there's a girl I work with that blushes about *everything* which has the opposite effect. I feel really uncomfortable around her because she seems to be embarrassed by too much.
