Independence from England? give me a break. that's just what you were told.  economically thriving? tell that to the Indian people.  While his life may be interesting, in the end, he didn't accomplish a whole lot besides inspiring generations of pacifist hippies.  I have a lot of respect for ghandi and what he taught, but in the end the sad reality is he failed.

Yeah. It's a shame that she was out on the street corner LISTENING to the public, and he fucking did that. Now we will be stuck having them ignore our concerns because they won't dare put themselves in danger like that again.

What in the world are you talking about?? India did get independence from England, yes I was told that in a fucking history class. You know most modern day college history classes are really accurate, right? Oh, and those generations of pacifist hippies goddam made America what it is today in many respects.  You best recognize. 

And India's got like a billion people, many of them live in so called "poverty" but really I think many of them might have the art of living quite figured out. They have universities churning out some of the most intelligent qualified engineers in the world.  Their tech schools make ours look like child's play.  And they'd never be at that point were it not for Gandhi, and by extension pacifist thought.

Yep.  And wait for the fallout from this.  If you think politicians are distant and inaccessible to their constituents now, just wait until after this.  You know, there was a time when ordinary people could just chill on the White House lawn, and presidents would have an open-door policy about meeting with ordinary people.  Then came the assassinations of Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, and Kennedy, and with each one, security got a little bit tighter, and the president became a little more remote from the people he represented.  Now we're going to see the same thing happen with Congress.

The whole "government should fear the people" mentality has it ass-backwards, in my opinion.  When government fears the people, they're busy hiding from them to listen to their concerns.

well for all the bullshit that goes on in the world, and the fact that bankers are the ones really in charge, Gandhi was still an amazing human being and you should really try to see that, his life is beautiful. 

And btw I just had this really cool history professor who spent a bunch of time teaching us how America's time is up and we're completely controlled by the bankers.  There are all sorts of perspectives out there in Academia (even if many of them are moulded by political pressures and are therefor bullshit)
