take the first part of that amendment, 'a well regulated militia, the
militia at the time of it's writing was an informal army, an army of the
people, those citizens that were able bodied and willing, from the age
of 14 to 65, the militia is the people of the nation, not myself or some
other nut case with a weapon... an individual is not the militia

The thing that many people don't realize is that the power structure IS VIOLENCE

Ann if the people do not make sure to keep it in check, it will run rampant upon them in all of it's violent glory.

Gandhi got India independence from England, inspired millions of people across time and space, and India is now an economically thriving nation.  I think you're stretching it a bit by saying he "did not work," his life story is inherently amazing.  Your viewpoint is highly polarized, in real life stuff happens gradually.
