Carbon based lifeforms is my #1 sleeping music...
difficult to find anything much more relaxing,



Yndi Halda is a great relaxing post rock band as well :awesome:

Almost anything by Eluvium (more to his music than it might appear at a quick first listen... way more than ambient)

but especially the album "An Accidental Memory in the Case of Death"
I listen to that damn near every night to fall asleep.

my favorite sleep albums are as follows:

sufjan stevens - "seven swans"
grouper - "dragging a dead deer up a hill" & "cover the window and walls"
joanna newsom - "walnut whales" & "the milk-eyed mender"
i am a robot and proud - "the electricity in your house wants to sing"
bethany curve - "skies a crossed sky" & "you brought us here"
mogwai - "EP+6" & "rock action"
grizzly bear - "yellow house"

and then there are those that have been mentioned by everyone else so far; sigur ros and boards of canada.  i cannot think of any more right now.

I listen to music I would otherwise not listen too. I also watch the simpsons. Simpsons effectively raised me so the early seasons are like a bed time story. odd I know.

But otherwise, the most popular would be Phillip Glass.
In addition to sleep, I also find myself listening to Einstein on the beach when I am feeling more manic than normal. Rachmaninov has been on my list lately. Joshua Bell too. Something about piano or a violin that puts me to sleep. Occasionally I find myself listening to series by Lifescapes. For example, ocean, or rain storm. sounds of nature basically. something lame like that.

These are confessions for a professional noise junkie. I have a hard time with silence. Its trouble.
