No Ps. Cubensis is the species., Another example of a species is Panaeolus.

PE, B+, EQ, etc. are as you said varieties

A strain is an isolation of a variety.

Like the PE monoculture in my sig. That is a strain.

A golden teacher pin does not look at all like a penis envy pin.

There is always an exception to the rule.

A PF albino pin looks nothing like a golden teacher pin either.

A B+ pin does though.

I know. Just trying to illustrate with extremes. That said: I, personally, would never be able to tell which is what. On a good day I can tell left from right. HOWEVER, I wouldn't be surprised if there are people that have experience enough to tell SOME strains, varieties, species, breed, brand, ect. from each other.

Pinhead has alot of experience. I would listen to him. And yes a cube is a cube, but some cubes do look substantialy different then others. PE vs. Burma for example. Didnt mean to start a debate with this thread, just wanted to know if anyone else has had some GT's that start that brown. Thanks for all the responses.

I have to agree with you, if someone took my spores

and grew random varieties side by side, I'm confident

I could tell the difference.

Dude, relax. I get where you're coming from.

But, if you were to include ALL cube varieties

(including PE), they are obviously different looking...

You have to at least agree that the penis and

albino strains look different, no?

Not to be a dick, but sometimes you're hard to understand...

Are you saying you're upset with yourself for agreeing

with me because you let the argument boil down to exceptions,
not typical cube appearance? They mostly look the same

with little differences. Who cares? You obviously know

what you're doing, and I see your point, but just let

it go.

if you want to understand me , :pm: me
other then that , i just dont see how people call "claim" to understand what
cube is what , when theres a huge chance these "strains" are not solid , someone was bound
to mess up some prints somewhere down the line

Just agree to disagree; I do mostly agree that they

all look very similar, aside from the "novelty strains."

I find cubes to be pretty distinctive, but that's because I choose distinctive strains.

I can tell treasure coast from brazil at a glance around the time the veil shows itself. PE is a no-brainer, it looks weird from pins to maturity.

However, to say with certainty that a photo of a pin is a specific strain (PE excepted) is pretty silly. Pins look like pins regardless of most strains.  :sherlock2:

PF classic looks different from the get go. They look like little buttons instead of pins. They are about as wide as a dime even as pins!

Anyone who hasn't grown this strain should check it out. Its a very aesthetically pleasing strain. You'll see exactly why they call it classic if you do

One time I received a mislabeled sporeworks syringe that was supposed to be treasure coast but turned out to be PF classic.

No ones perfect

You guys can argue until the sun comes up but I knew when they grew into pins that they were not going to be treasure coast. Those fucking things are more distinct than PE.

I didn't know they were classics specifically until they grew out a little bit though. But they look very different & something was fishy.

I will say this.

TC & B+ look identical along with all the other traditional domesticated varieties.

i.e.  KSS looks like malabar who looks like cambodians, etc......

Jokefox, Afrosheen, Moonshine, Doc, Bateyes, and myself ..... We all know what we are doing. Everyone needs to chill out on each other and not be so narrow minded.

Mycology is no place for narrow minded behavior or the rest of science for that matter.

One time I ordered five 4pack grab bag specials from sporeworks. I literally ordered all their strains and grew them out ms.

Some colonized at different rates, Some looked very similar, some did not.

While most were distinct Some pins looked unique.

The costa rican's for example look nothing like the malabars even as pins.

You can tell this even without the labeling. Although mine were labeled.
