Jury Duty
    #13628831 -

I have jury duty tomorrow morning at 7:45 am. This fucking blows, gotta get up at 7 in the fucking morning in the fucking cold ass weather to go to fucking jury duty. I love how I'm forced to do this...or else I could get "charges placed against me" for contempt of court or some bullshit. Land of the free?  P.S, I HAVE TO MISS WORK

It's a pretty interesting experience. Talk to the people in the waiting areas if they look bored, there are people from all walks of life there.

I hated the waiting areas sitting there for hours on end hoping that you get called up with the next group of people into the courtroom.  I just answered the lawyers questions with things they didnt want to hear so I wouldnt get picked and it worked.  This guy next to me said he had been called for jury duty 4 times before and picked for the jury everytime, he was like "god i hope I dont get picked this time" and they ended up picking him, he had a "god damnit" look on his face as I strolled out of the courtroom to go home:lol:

It probably would be a good experience if I wasn't so damn anti-social...plus I'm on break from school...I don't wanna wake up at  7 in the fucking morning  :feelsbadman:

You'll probably get sent home.

But, yeah, the fact that you were called

makes it the land of the free, no?

I never went and I've never been charged.  I got notices 2 different times and I just threw them in the trash.  I should have gone and just fucked with the judge.  If the judge asks if you have any bumper stickers tell him "Yeah, I have one that says I support jury nullification."

i'm not legally allowed to be on jury duty because i'm considered too friendly with police and likely to side with their case.  Not really true, but whatever makes them happy

So I was there at 7:45 am...didn't get called til 11:30 and had to endure watching the movie "Elf" (it was actually pretty funny I just wished I was stoned during it). As soon as my group gets out there we're told our case was upheld or something and that free to go...awesome.:feelsgoodman:

It's amazing how waking up early and sitting in a waiting room for three hours is such a tremendous burden.

IMO trial by jury is an incredible right.  People should be more than willing to try and help make a substantive contribution.

If I had a case that lasted months, I'd do it.  Something that long is probably really interesting and important.

I am now downloading Pauly Shore's "Jury Duty"... thank you shroomery, this should sufficiently numb my brain for the rest of the afternoon.

Now to find "In The Army Now"...

JURY NULLIFICATION

its illegal for them to tell you about it before going up for jury duty. pretty fucked up.

I get those notices at least once a year but I'm always to busy to go. I've never known anyone to do anything with those other than throw them away I'm surprised you actually went.
