What would you do if you were called to jury duty in a case regarding illegal mushroom growing?

Totally hypothetical question here.  I just got done serving jury duty and felt a little guilty having to convict the guy (of a non-mushroom/non-drug related crime) even though he was clearly guilty and what he did was a really piece of shit thing to do.  More so just felt shitty for his wife and daughter.  But it got me thinking...

What would you guys do if you were called for jury duty and the case was someone who was busted growing psilocybin mushrooms?  Assuming he was clearly "guilty" of growing, would you guys go along with the obvious verdict of guilty?  Or would you look like a total fuckhead to everyone else in the room and just stubbornly refuse to convict on the grounds that to you it may likely seem like an ok thing for someone to do?

I can tell you, in a situation like that, when you are face to face with the people in a small room, it would be much harder to stand your ground that you might imagine sitting in your computer chair.  I do believe there is something about a juror being able to choose "not guilty" if they disagree with the act being criminal in the first place.  Of course, if you were the only one it would simply result in a hung jury until they picked a new one and got your stankin hippie ass out of there.

What would you guys do?

It doubt it would happen . Where im at drug cases are different ( Unless you trafficking )
They wouldn't put a jury in front of you for growing shrooms .

in the US everyone has the right to a trial by jury, if you're refused a jury
you'd win on the appeal and be able to sue for fucktons of cash for violating
your rights


anyway, I'd call the laws into question, jury notification

Not guilty. I don't give a shit how pissed the other jurors got. They can eat a dick.

Nobody should go to jail for growing mushrooms. Well, I guess I would change my tune if the dude was in it purely for profit, and didn't give 2 fucks about the psychedelic culture. That's different.

But if he was just like the majority of us -- who grow (or grew) for the purposes tripping...no way.

Say nothing about what I know or who I am.  Pretend to be a taxpaying lawabider.


Tell the Jury "I just don't see how he's guilty.  I gotta vote not guilty".

Don't argue with anyone, don't give any reason (unless required), just not guilty.





I feel like absolute and complete shit for missing Jury about a year ago.  I'm hoping they send another notice.
