New MMORPGs

I just watched a preview for a relatively new Star Wars MMORPG; I'm a veteran of UO, Everquest, and World of Warcraft, but I've pretty much burned out on all those games.  At this point, I don't think I'll be spending good money on the new WoW expansion when I can't really see myself getting back into the game. 

I've never played any of the Star Wars themed MMOs, and I've heard mixed reviews.  The same goes for Guild Wars. 

What game(s) would fellow Shroomery gamers suggest to someone who has played and burned out on the games I have mentioned?  Is this new Star Wars MMORPG worth looking into, for example?  Is there anything on the horizon worth looking forward to?

I've been looking for one too. There doesn't seem to be anything great out right now, WoW pretty much crushed all the competition, and sort of ruined the scene IMO, because now every game that comes out tries to be like WoW.

I haven't done much looking into SW:ToR, but I remember being excited by the little I did read. And it's bioware developing it, how can you go wrong? But it's hard to say how a game is going to be before it's actually released, seems like a lot of overhyped MMOs have failed horribly lately.

Blade&Soul looks interesting and is coming in late 2011 I think, if you're into Korean style games. Not a whole lot of info on it yet though. Guildwars 2 should be out sometime in 2011 too. Guildwars was great, but I can't imagine trying to start now so many years after release. Can't imagine there's much population left either.

Everquest2, Dungeons&Dragons Online, and LoTR Online have all recently gone free to play so they might be worth checking out. EQ2's f2p model seems pretty terrible. I'm downloading DDO now, looks like it could be fun for a bit.

LOTRO and DDO couldnt hold my interest but they're free so go for it. DDO has a shroomery guild at least when I played.. search for Niteowls thread.
Oh and Bioware :thumbup:

Eve looks like it could be fun.  Might download the trial version of that - but I seem to remember trying it a few years ago and being pretty disappointed with the gameplay.  Well, I guess there's only one way to find out :smile:

I played in a closed beta of Star Wars: The Old Republic last summer, and I thought it was a really good game. If you ever played Knights of the Old Republic and liked that, then you will like this game too.

Pretty much anything Bioware touches turns into gold, so I really don't see a bad game coming out of that company anytime soon.
