Opinions on SoS tek?
    #1356725 -

I was wondering your guy's pet dog's experience/opinions on the SoS tek?

I've seen that some people say it's just crap, why others say it's great...

Thanks in Advance,
Trife!

well you probably already know my opinion but i'll restate it. i think it divides the nutrient containing substrate up too much. when you do a regular casing, you should always have 3"+ of substrate and even then the mycelium network is stronger and can transfer nutrients more efficiently. but with the sos tek, he has you make a few cups per 1/2 pint cake and simply cover with casing matierial (which will not add nutrients). i don't see why a newbie would choose this tek. it will yeild less mass of mushroom (and less potent too) per 1/2 pint of substrate used than simply fruiting the cakes alone or doing a *normal* casing where you would crumble 1 or more pf cakes together and case with verm or whatever u want. in short, its not any easier or foolproof and yeilds poor quality and low weighing mushrooms.

Yup...I would say to skip this tek. I wasn't impressed with it! everything Dragon Fly said was pretty much true.

experience? none
opinion? not impressed

it is also confusingly named. a true 'sea of shrooms' (ala sea of green) would have a perpetual fruiting carpet, and involve forcing the shrooms to fruit early. not possible that i've ever heard of. many are attracted by the name, but it's no more than making multiple tiny casings, a spawning-gone-wrong. i'm hoping that someone will post a positive opinion here based on experience, so i can learn what benefit i was unaware of.
