need lunch ideas for poor student

I come across the dilemma of not having any food between the hours of 8am and 1pm. I usually eat "if i do" with a friend at about 10am. What do? Any ideas? Iv got about $5 to spend.

save for 2 days and get bread chicken and mayo. With and apple.

Thats what I would do. Not worth it really to go out if your in such a crutch.

well i forgot to mention i have to be able to eat it on campus. So something I could keep in my car. Im also malnourished fyi. So anything hearty you guys can think of.

bingo. also you can cook a pound of pasta for a dollar then keep it in a tupperware.

pasta is seriously the cheapest food ever

buy a rack of lamb, pressure cook it, can it, take to class and put in on a paper plate infront of everyone and enjoy

Cost-co pizza at $10 each. Makes for a decent 3 meals.

Pasta is pretty damn cheap too. Some noodles with a little butter, and red wine vinegar goes down pretty good.

A little bacon and onion, fried up with white rice?

A couple of baked potatoes?

Best deals on veggies are usually the farmers market.

I got really good at living on the cheap, did it for a long time. But Ramen = Poor nutrition. If you can do some VERY basic cooking, and throw it in the freezer or fridge, you can eat pretty good.

Potatoes. They are super cheap and delicious.

Bought a 20lb bag today for $5. Then chop them up throw them in a frying pan with some vegetable oil and cook.

Put some cheese and hot sauce on it and throw it in tupperware for next day's lunch.

Or you could buy cheap bread (80 cents per loaf) and some cotto salami ($1-2 for 20 slices) and make sandwiches (hint: Bread, meat, bread, meat, bread)

honestly his best bet nutrition wise would be to buy a small bag of frozen blueberrys and strawberrys, that would prolly wipe out his $5 right there, but hopefully he has some dried milk powder and icecubes, then he can make enough shakes to drink the entire week.  About a cup of fruit will fill an entire blender up shake wise, and thats enough for 3 tall glasses filled to the top making a rich shake.  Cut the fruit inhalf and it might not taste quite as good but will last 2x as long.

A more apt name for the thread would be "Cheap meals" then :sun:

-Rice dishes
-Noodle dishes (not instant Ramen)
-Pasta
-Pizza
-Breads + sandwhichs/burgers
