i dont know if this is the right forum for this question, but i was just wondering if there is a deadly look-alike for psilocybe cubensis or are they a pretty unique mushroom? im just curious cause i dont really trust dealers even if they say that they got them from someone who grew the mushrooms, and i really really dont want to die!

Find someone that knows what they are looking for and get them to teach you how to id them. And read up on this website and others about cubensis. Like the hunting faq. Once you learn what your looking for they will be easy to id. But to the answer to your question:not really but there are some that look similiar to cubes but not a look-a-like.

Oh, i didnt see your location. WA is Washington State. You are not going to find cubensis out here. You need to be down around the gulf coast. You are going to want to read up on our local mushrooms. Go here. look at Washington

Well i dont know, There might be a look-a-like in wa. But If i were you i would not buy shrooms from someone you dont know well enough. Someone that you buy drugs from or through should be someone you trust.

He is in washington, and he is looking to buy shrooms off someone and wants to know if they are real or not. It is really hard to identify dried mushrooms. You just need to find someone who knows what to look for and bring them with you.

yeah mjshroomer...im not exactly sure how you got the idea that i was looking for drugs, seeing as how i thought i made it pretty clear that i already have a hook-up thats NOT from a message board. my only question was if there were any deadly look-alikes for p. cubensis, which these fine people helped me answer quite easily.
ps thanks for all the info guys

The only mushroom which even comes close to looking like a cube realy doesn't except maybe for its similar shape. Chlorophyllum molybdites is a Lepiota (parasol mushroom) which is known as Morgan's lepiota or 'green-gills'. The gills turn a darkish olive green in age and are toxic causing nausea and profuse sweating, vomiting and extreme stomach discomfort. Not usually ever fatal, but painful. This shroom is the number one accidently picked and eaten shroom in the state of Florida as P. cubensis. Beware. Pictures are all over the web. But then again it really does not look like P. cubensis. Other shrooms. Some species of Stropharia are related to {P. cubensis buit grow in woodchips and mulch and are not psychoactive but look macroscopically similar to P. cubensis. edibilty of the Stropharias are unknown. mj
