P. cubensis look-alike
    #1548341 - 05/14/03 04:04 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

Here is one of several species of Stropharia's which resemble Psilocybe cubensis in some of its various stages of growth and developement.

Cassie,

Could you post this at spiritplants in Limejuices post on "Is this a panaeolus."

His images are either a Stropharia or a species of agaricus.

His shroom i9s a grassland variety of Stopharia semiglobata.

Since I am banned over there I thought maybe you could post the image and ID.

mj Thanks

THE CAPS ARE MORE A COPPER/YELLOW UNTIL THEY START DRYING.

THIS PARTICULAR SPECIES IS COMMON IN MANURE BUT THE STROPHIARIA OR AGARICUS POSTED BY LIIMEJUICE AT SPIRITPLANTS LOOK MORE LIKE CUBES BUT ARE A GRASSLAND VARIETY OF STROPHARIA.

Of course they look similar, cubensis based on macroscopic apearance alone would be grouped with other Strophariacea. I am still of the mind to call them Stropharia cubensis. What specie is that MJ? Looks like ambigua but i didnt know they grew from dung.

Hi Cardboard, Stropharia semiglobata.

I have posted aother cube looking Stropharias. Stamets changed a group of them in his book and wrote Psilocybe. But like you I consider them Stropharias.

None stain blue. Some grow in grasses. I posted this because of a post by Lime Juice at Spiritplants who found some lawn variations. Everyone is telling him they are cubes but they are not.

His post is titled, "Is This A Panaeolus?"

It is something I do not wish to discuss anymore. Not you was I banned but they removed all of the pictorials which made their site one of the best.

Now my posts name is there biut the images and text are missing but they left everyones questions to me and then blank spaces where I answered.

However they forgot to remove my two articles at the site which are still there.

It was Glider and a few others.

Thats all I need to say. Eddie had nothing to do with it.
