bulk humidification necessary?

I just recently got some really good advice for this guy I know on how to humidify large containers, but was wondering if this would be absolutely necessary. I read that large amounts of substrate (i.e., poo) create/maintain an rh conducive to fruiting. Is this true? Thanks as always (on behalf of this guy I know) for any help with this.

This is one of those things u have to find out own your own.

Sometimes if the tank is small enough they can produce enough humidity.

Hard question to answer without really being there to look at it.
I'd have a back up sourse of humidity just n case.

When my dog first started he was using 14x10x7.5 rubbermaids with lids. Fanning 2 times a day.
Those produced enough humidity and only needed misting every 3 days.
When he moved to a huge fruiting chamber he found the need for more humidity and control. He still uses the 14x10 rubbermaids inside bigger tanks.
He has found leaving the lid on the 14x10 with a few air holes and fanning 2 times will help speed pins.
After he sees pins he them moves them to the big tanks he has that run on a cool mist.

Thanks for the reply. The guy I know has 18 gal. Rubbermaid's and plans on incubating/fruiting poo as per the Rubbermaid-within-a-Rubbermaid type tek. With a 3 to 4" layer of substrate, he hopes to get away with misting when needed (air pumps running for an hour 3x/day should exchange the air well enough he hopes).
