a few years latter he was charged and imprisoned, the program was called
PGP, Pretty Good Privacy, using the RSA algorithm it's one of the
strongest in encryption programs released

That's not accurate really. The government at the time considered encryption software to be munitions, so he was busted for exporting this software. The case was dropped after a few years as the government never really had a case. As for PGP, I personally use GPG for my encryption needs (for instance I have a file on my laptop called Bank_Password.txt). I think RSA has been broken but Im not 100% positive on that.
