what kind of mushrooms can you find in virginia,pennsylvania,new jersey, that type of climate? any info would be appreciated..thanks

Probably because next to nothing grows there as far as active mushrooms go.

Panaeolus subbalteatus is your only bet. Possibly Gyms but I wouldn't count on it...

Sorry I didn't know that. Did you check MJ's site? He has a rather extensive list of active shrooms and where they can be found.

i was in virginia the last summer and i happen to be walkin in the woods and i found a small mushroom that bruised blue. it was by itself small and brown,gills, dome cap.i dont have any other characteristics on it so i cant possibly expect an identification but do any non actives bruise blue?

Oh yeah, lots do. Boletes, Cortinarius, and Lactarius are a few that come to mind. Some of them are poisonous.

Big shrooms, small shrooms; short shrooms, tall shrooms. One shroom, two shrooms; red shrooms, blue shrooms; tree shrooms, ground shrooms, polypores and round shrooms!

I'd say just look for any horse stables around your house, or even some cow pastures and look in the poop. Otherwise, I dout you'll find anything else.

Oh, and there are mushrooms which grow in shit that are poisonus , so you better make sure before you eat them :smile:
