Melzer's Reagent?
    #13213058 -

I just learned that spores being amyloid/dextrinoid/inamyloid isn't a microscopy thing and just refers to a color change but that you need to use Melzer's Reagent to check it. I happen to be all out of date rape drugs at the moment* so I'm not sure how to acquire this.

Is there anything other than Melzer's Reagent that can check that color change?

*well, I didn't really even have any to begin with

The only other amyloid stain I know of is congo red, but I don't know how useful it is for mycology. It's used in histology to stain for amyloid and is detected by green birefringence (fluorescence through a polarised filter).

Yeah, that's where I read about how hard it is to get.
