Cocaine, arachnids, and disposophobia (plus parking tickets, of course)
    #13205472 -

After flying back to the home turf from the East coast to the West coast, I was re-united with an enabling friend of mine who decides cocaine is in order for the night. Nothing spectacularly interesting happened, it was standard fare for the most part.

Except, at the 3hr point, instead of coming down with the usual trademark irritability and restlessness, I felt as if I taken a psychedelic on top of the cocaine. I began having mild hallucinations, hearing sounds, experiencing tingling and weird body sensations.

The kicker is one of the hallucinations wasn't a hallucination. There was indeed a gigantic fucking spider slowly pimp walking right in front of me. Per the surgeon general's recommendation, I smacked him with the closest available utensil. The strangest part is I felt like I was experiencing a flash back, because a nearly identical thing happened to be while jazzed to hell on mephedrone--whereby I eventually realized the monstrous 8-legger that was staring me down also existed on the sober plane of existence. What I didn't realize until after I shoe fucked it, was that she was carrying two dozen babies on her back. So, while overly sensitive to something as trivial as someone whispering dirty words in my ear, I get the pleasure of watching a baby spider frenzy burst into chaos in my living room. Almost puked.

Even more bizarre, earlier myself and Captain Cocaine Cowboy II thought it would be cool to visit our old friend, so we did. The first story I get was about him encountering a huge ass spider in the toilet right before we arrived.

Connecting the dots: prior to leaving the East Coast I kept hearing gossip and commentary about how crazy the animal and insect populations and activity had been; gnats and mosquitoes were rampant, tree frogs and toads were crowding the walk ways and windows at night. A relative killed 2 snakes in her house, one day after another -- while another relative killed a 6 foot rattle snake. Cocaine Cowboy's mom, who works with Native Americans, said she has been hearing a lot of them predicting a heavy winter based on the behavior of animals and insects lately.

Another connect I made: I learned that my old pal's mom is a hoarder (she has 20 cats). After reading some journal articles about the specific conditions, I read it can be learned behavior. The friend has always been a strange bird, but now I understand why he collects so many books and yet doesn't read them, owns so many random music instruments yet sucks at all of them, and owns every gaming console known to man, yet never plays them.

Overall it was just a weird night. Plus, already punished by drinking and poor decision making, I was granted the beautiful gift of waking up to yet another parking ticket. I already have a court hearing to dispute several others.

Another day in paradise.

I love how life is full of little coincidences like that. I personally don't think they mean anything, but it's neat when they happen anyways.

That fucking Wolf spider with the babies all over it is creepy as fuck.
When you killed that one and the babies scattered, what did you do?

I was completely shocked when they scattered. I thought she was pregnant when they just burst out of her stomach and hauled ass (later learning they are piggy-backing), in every other direction on my living room floor. I took off my shoe and banged away.

I have a lot of really significant synchronicities that, in my opinion, go well beyond any mere coincidence. They are more personal than getting high and smashing spiders, so it's not appropriate here.

I'll say this: I once decided to pack my life into my car and drive across the country, with no plans and only minimal funds. A relative called me right after I left and said she randomly met over a dozen business men from the very city I was driving to (in a small town that waves at everyone and knows you by your first and last name). Long story short, my internship has been arranged by them, my job has been arranged by them, and I am sponsored to fly and attend various conferences, paid by them. The day after I arrived in the new city, I check my email and learn that I was accepted to graduate school here -- which I had almost entirely forgot that I had applied to... over a year ago.

Hrmm.

at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Nice post. I saw a spider today (not a wolf spider but almost as big) with many dozen babies on it's abdomen. I was checking my melons for ripeness, and because they are on the ground I was squatted down with my face in the leaves, and I see this big spider with many babies, and I got the instant shivers. I did not kill her, although my first instinct after jumping up was to smash it; it was outside and spiders eat flying insects like gnats and mosquitoes, so spiders in my yard is a good thing.
Once as a kid of maybe 8 years old, I had caught a mother wolf spider in a white 5 gallon bucket. At some point I poked it with a stick or something, and suddenly hundreds of little spiders went fanning out in every direction and creeping up the sides of the bucket. It creeps me out right now just thinking about it, although at the time that was what we did. We would find cracks or holes in the ground and fill it up with some hose water. Then either a frog or a spider would come out and we would capture it. Usually a wolf spider, and we would collect them in one gallon ice cream tubs.

don't come to my house.  I like my spiders and do my best to treat them with courtesy.

Hand in a bee hive, hand in a snake's den, hand in an ant hill, hand in a dog's cage, hand in a bear's lair, etc. They would gladly use any means necessary to get rid of you.

Same fate befalls the cocksucker trying to come into my apartment.

Nothing personal. Strictly business.

My mom is so damn lucky. This past week she told me she found a black widow egg case in the door handle to our tool shed and asked me to go kill it with some spray. I did it the next day but when I got out there I found the biggest god damn black widow I have ever seen. It was ridiculous. Good thing no one grabbed the inside of that thing.

The end.

You should have put the spider in a padded envelope and mailed it to your local courthouse, addressed to one of the clerks that are processing all of our bullshit tickets to generate revenue for perpetual budget deficit.

I'm going to be on the news one day, I know it.
